Run 1:01:23 [3] 6.78 mi (9:03 / mi) +631ft 8:19 / mi

Aerobic from the house, through the county campground, out to the Hub Trails, a short loop and then back. Sucked it up and ran the whole thing instead of run:walk to see what pacing and fluid loss look like.

Walked 5 to start and two sections to keep the HR out of sub-threshold. Fluid loss: 3 pounds (48 oz) even in temps near 40 degrees. I've never done a test like this before so it's good to have a starting point to build a nutrition/hydration strategy from. I'm open to ideas.

Did this today becuause of a 1300 start today and a 0900 start tomorrow. Short run tomorrow.

Hiking (Rescue) 1:45:00 [3] 3.21 mi (32:43 / mi) +920ft 25:44 / mi

Ran into RSO who was staging for RMRU at the bottom of Marion MTN. Three 18 year-olds from South OC were lost after trying to summit.

RMRU usually takes 5 hours to arrive and it was 1630 and getting cold fast so I grabbed the GPS coordinates from SO and headed up. Luckily, they weren't too far off trail and the coordinates were right on.

They made it all the way to Little Round Valley trying to summit, but turned around once the footprints in the snow disappeared. They lost the trail between Fuller Ridge, Seven Pines and Marion MTN and just headed downhill.

No map or compass, no microspikes, no snow shoes, no nothing. It would have been a VERY cold night for them if things had gone a little differently.

Run 1:01:49 [3] 6.52 mi (9:29 / mi) +616ft 8:42 / mi

Easy from the house, through the County Campground and down to the Hub Trails.

Walked 5 to start, then 16:2 run:walk. A little sore to start from the big hike on Wednesday, but ran surprisingly stong on this.

Hiking (Ruck) 4:40:50 [3] 11.7 mi (24:00 / mi) +3696ft 18:29 / mi

Big day in the mountains to check out trail conditions, water and snow levels. Some leaner trees and one big blow down higher up. Patchy snow near Strawberry Junction that gets bigger and deeper as you get higher.

Beautiful in the back country, amazing weather, only saw one person beyond Suicide Junction, but lots of knuckleheads on the way down.

Run 2:43:44 [3] 13.5 mi (12:08 / mi) +2298ft 10:27 / mi

Long run from the house, down through the county campground and then out to the Hub trails. Two loops down through the grotto trails and then up the single track and down bottomator, then back.

Walked 5 to start, then 10:2 walk:run. This was either too much climbing or too big a jump over last week. Legs tired from the get-go, pretty much phoned it in after 12-ish miles (2:30). Sad Panda.
