Orienteering race 19:53 [4] *** 1.72 mi (11:34 / mi) +59m 10:27 / mi

Great course. Feeling sluggish due to all the training this past week, but still pretty happy with how it went. It went well except two controls, overshot #15 and went to far west on #17.

Running warm up/down 29:30 [1] 1.99 mi (14:49 / mi) +92m 12:58 / mi

Picking up controls and cooling down going home.

Still tired from the run last Monday and kept back a little, but still improved the pace with 24 seconds compared with the same route last week, mainly due to being able to keep going after the first three miles. Humid and somewhat warm.

I had a good run today, that is promising all around, both less likely that I have anything and for the half-marathon this weekend. The greatest part was that I felt that my legs could keep going and I had a good pace through the end. The overall pace wasn't any record compared with the past, but it was quite hot and humid, with me taking drinking breaks for about 3 minutes during the run. This route is also the toughest one from my house with a lot of climb.

I am still not expecting any fantastic pace at the half-marathon, but it feels like I should be able to run the whole distance.

My wife and I started to do the 4000 footers in the white mountains last year, and we did another one today. We did Mount Tecumseh, which is the lowest of the 48 official ones. We hiked from the Waterville Valley ski area up the main hiking trail, about a 2000 feet climb. After climbing up to the summit, we went out on the Susman trail and went down via the ski trails. Here is the list so far:

Lafayette 5260 9/4/2010
Lincoln 5089 9/4/2010
Moosilauke 4802 7/3/2010
Tecumseh 4003 5/29/2011

We expect to do at least 8 more this year, but it will be a few years before we are able to finish all of them.

A faster but shorter run. I was totally out of energy after the run though.
