Walked up Cader Idris from the campsite. Pain bending my knee on the assent and horrendous pain trying to descend. Loosened off a tiny bit later in the day. Worried, got physio tuesday.

shoes: Asics

Cader Idris fell race in wales.
Mentally prepared well for the road sections at the start and end but just wasnt feeling that great on the day. May have been the heat.. or camping last night.. Anyway set off steady up the valley and almost immediately got really really tight calves which set off the shins and was nearly unbearable at times. Stopped to walk for 10seconds but it didnt seem to help so just carried on. Pain eased when I left the road and ran a bit harder. Worked hard on the climb because it wasnt huge. But as soon as I turned to run back down I got a seriously sharp pain in the right side of my right knee. Hopped, limped down the climb and then pain eased on the flat. Didnt get any more shin or knee pain the rest of the way back. Stopped when I finished for a drink and when i tried to walk I could barely bend my leg without shooting pain in my knee.

Iced it and rested it but it didnt get any better throughout the day.

Apart from the injury the race went ok, only me and 1 other boy ran U18 so once I turned around and left the senior race it was a struggle psychologically to run hard in the heat on my own. Managed alright and was pleased with my running except feeling I lacked any speed in my legs. Forgot my heart rate monitor. http://www.cader-race.co.uk/

Bager Stone Fell Relays first leg. Felt good to start and had a pretty fast start up the hill. Proper steep climb then flattens out for about a km and then steep decent with a killer climb to finish. As per usual I got a stitch as soon as I accelerated off the climb which affected me a bit I reckon.. Anyway 19seconds faster than last year (not as much as I would have hoped) and beat Lucy Williamson finally!!

Out and up caters lane and then along and down through middleton woods doing a bit of mountain biking instead of just down the road. Stopped in the woods half way to do the reps. Carters lane hill seemed much longer than last week and quads were aching.

Lush weather though!!
