Loughrigg Fell race - 2nd

Very fun short fell race up to the top and loughrigg and back down accompanied with some nice and soggy conditions; starting on the road and then winding up the trails to the fell and back down.

Felt pretty good and took on the race with some guy from bolton? - that i've never heard of before. Sat on his shoulder up the trail and then took it on a bit, on the trails to the fell. The course was flagged but when we got on the fell it was a bit dodgy jut playing search for the flag so we never were really that confident of the route and I had no idea of which part was the top of loughrigg so quite hard to gauge by effort levels. Bolton guy stretched it out anyway from me and was shifting well. I summited just ahead of an Ambleside guy called Gary and then managed to pull away from him leading off the fell.

Felt good climbing and didn't have to power walk once. Starting to gain some confidence back, lungs feeling better each day now :) Guess at time since Watch decided to do a shitey update which said it would take two mins and is actually still in the process. Got a bottle of ale for 2nd as well. Fish and Chips after with Lizzie,Rob and Helen was dece as well.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [4] 12.1 km (6:37 / km) +555m 5:23 / km

80 minutes of running uphill in a marsh. Not as nice.

First time my lungs have actually felt good for most of a race. Proper grind of a race and not so clean. Made some pretty big time losses accumulating of 4 mins-ish at a quick look.... a lot around the control circle and was maybeeee half regretting running up the old man for some of the final climbs of the course. But in general happy how things went for this race physically. Great area.

Don't think I've ever felt as tired after a race as this one for some reason, the terrain well and truly bummed me. Had about 3 dinners tonight to make up for it.

Running 40:00 [2] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)

Note

Nice to finally begin to gain some competence in my physical shape and be able to breathe again. Dr Bonar's steroids working well.

Orienteering 38:32 [4] 5.37 km (7:10 / km) +137m 6:22 / km

Tarn Hows Middle

38 minutes of running through a marsh, nice. Made over a minute mistake - one miss and one shite direction down a slope. Properly face planted it head first into a marsh just before the last control. Came running into finish with Miss Evans pissing herself at my mud covered body/face.

Took inhaler before my start which seemed to loosen things off. Brought it with me incase It started getting worse. Unfortunately It fell out my pocket at control number 2 straight to a marsh (what a coincidence) so rather than contracting aids i left it there and kept going. Last 10 minutes lungs did get worse and they actually hurt at the end of the race. But positive because took them longer than normal to get worse.

Class run up the Old man with Dane. Chest tight after about 20 minutes took some of my 'reliever' inhaler which seemed to help a bit and then started to feel really good on the last climb. Think I'm just going to play puff the magic dragon all weekend.

Easy run with Katherine, 10/10 shit chat the entire way. Was looking far too big in my swix top. Should take about few days before i start noticing medication so hopefully will feel improvements soon, chest weasy still but easy pace was fine and legs felt good.
