Orienteering 36:00 [4]

BUCS Relay

Not the best area to be unfit on, open fell, lots of climb and rather fast! Legs absolutely shafted from the day before. Got around well enough, crossing over with James A and Harry S for most of the race. Got away towards the end of the gaffle but fucked the crag on the slope and lost about 20-30 secs, followed by a fat banana to the next control. Then just slogged it out to the finish behind them. Jonny did a decent job to bring us home in a solid 6th, not quite the legendary BUCS bronze with Colm but respectable all the same with the amount of depth this year.

Orienteering 1:04:11 [4]

BUCS - 19th

Set off like I had trained the whole winter, naving good, feeling good and was doing pretty decent for the first half of the course! Think I was like 10th halfway into the race so pretty solid for the amount of training I've been doing and how early my start time was.... Hit the butterfly and then... legs popped, lungs popped, must of face planted about ten times in a row and then absolutely suffered into the finish! Love feeling totally destroyed at the end of a race but it would be nicer to be slightly more in shape.

Few below par routes, losing about a minute in total but no big misses. Got to say though I don't think my heart rate has ever been so high for how slow my run in was, felt like I was running through custard.

But what a class day it was, well nice weather, great course and really just enjoyed being back racing. Happy days!

Running 25:00 [1]

Uphill slog to the start and about a 10 second cool down.

Running 25:00 [2]

Lil pre-bucs hype meadows jog. Legs a bit stiff, be grand after a stretch.

Running 25:00 [2]

Orienteering 25:00 [3]

Some lovely little sprintervals planned by Peldey, thankyou very much Pedley. Beaut weather made this very enjoyable, wasn't really focusing so lots of terrible routechoices taken but all good bants.

Note

BUCs "training" complete, easy day tomorrow to bank all 20 of my miles i've got in over the past two weeks ;) Nice slog around the long on Saturday and then give it some spuds on Sunday if I have anything left in my legs!

Running 44:58 [4] 8.38 km (5:22 / km)

EUOC Intervals

2 x 1200 m @ 3:17's
2 x 1000 m @ 3:10's
2 x 800 m @ 3:08's
4 x 200 m @ 2:30's?

Big bunch of lads out tonight which was class. First 'proper' interval session in a while so a real tester of where my fitness is in reality. And tbh reasonably happy with it considering the amount of training I've done. Good session all in all apart from the 1st 800 where I bonked and had to jog in practically...this was probably a good thing so I could actually finish the rest of the reps reasonably strong.

The hype of the show was the last rep as always. Big-big chat for this one though as all the big dogs showed up (That's right Alex & Jack you are both mere chihuahuas). I know in my head when it comes to the last rep that I am the fastest Orienteer that ever lived. So I was pretty confident for this 200 m, even if 400 m is probably my preferred distance. Went off with an absolute bang, 99 Fifa pace #MarcusRashfordEatYourHeartOut. But there was nothing, absolutely nothing that I could do when Usain Scransfield turned on his 100 Fifa pace burners and got a disgusting ten-meter gap in about the first two milliseconds. All I could do was eat dust, keep the gap the same and maintain some dignity and not let any other boys past me. Hence I gained the title of second fastest Orienteer that ever lived. Good but not good enough.

Running 9:00 [1] 1.44 km (6:15 / km)

Crawl back to the flat.
