Running 46:47 [2] 5.2 mi (9:00 / mi)

Easy run on an old Ellison Park map. The park was FLOODED, the likes of which I only usually see in the spring. The best part of the high waters what that there weren't too many loose dogs around, especially unusual for a mid-Saturday-afternoon. And none of the dogs that were loose even tried to bite me. I guess that made it sort of boring.

I stumbled on an unmapped open field near the SE corner of the park. I'm not sure if it was just inside park property, or just outside. The map has no details whatsoever in that area. I really should learn mapping so I can put the vegetation on this map. Not even the open land is mapped accurately.

Running 56:55 [2] 6.85 mi (8:19 / mi)
slept:6.25

GTA with Erik, Frank, JV, Jim and Vinnie. I was only able to stay up for the first mile. After that I did 4 x 2 min fairly hard but it took 4 min of real easy jogging to recover after each. Since I lost sight of them, I reran last week's route, but they weren't back, so I added a little over a mile loop (at 9 min pace).

Swimming 35:33 [3] 0.91 mi (39:03 / mi)

4:19/8:43
1:39,43,41,38,38
3:36,36

A little slower than Tuesday. No surprise since my arms were a little heavy and I ran this AM.

Mostly easy, although I did do some 100 on / 100 off during the last 1.5, since I went thru halfway in exactly 16 min. and did not want to go over 32.

Swimming 37:12 [3] 0.97 mi (38:21 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:166lbs

4:07/8:28
1:35,8,7,8,8
3:35,36

Not nearly as brutal as last time, but still awfully slow, and I was more winded than I should have been at these speeds.

Running 36:50 [2] 4.21 mi (8:45 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:166lbs

Couldn't fit in a run at lunch, so I made it out to Webster Park around 4:45 for an easy run while Nate was finishing up his first-ever XC ski practice, which was a lot like an easy XC running practice, since there is no real snow on the horizon here.

I started out running with a Webster Park map, but darkness fell a lot more quickly than I expected - ran mostly trails with some terrain sections.

Highlight of the run: spotted a 'possum actually playing possum on the very southeast corner of the map. Unless it was actually dead, which I doubt. I didn't get too close to check because, umm, it was private property right on the other side of the large rodent.

Lowlight of the run: leaving the possum, I headed due west, parallel to the park boundary and encountered a nasty maze of downed trees. Too bad - this probably used to be wonderful terrain before the wreckage. No wonder I've never seen a control placed anywhere in the SE corner of the map.

slept:5.5 weight:166lbs (rest day)

Wasn't able to get a run in today. Very busy - up at 6 so Chris and I could get the XC yearbooks ready in time for the banquet at 1 (with only a break to take Nate to his hockey game). Since the banquet was scheduled during the Bills game (poor planning by Coach K), I had to watch it via TiVo delay, and was too beat to run afterwards.
