Saturday May 26

Golfing 1:00 [1]
Got to the course at 9, sure that I could make it out by 10:15, but no. Spent an hour on the range / practice green, then no longer had time to fit in 9 holes.

Foolish scheduling by the club - President's cup qualifier on a holiday weekend - caused unprecedented backup.
Running 32:00 [2] 4.0 mi (7:59 / mi)
After I did my volunteer scoreboard duties for 2 games, I had time to kill before Chelsea's first hoop tourney game. So, I ran around Chuchville-Chili HS, then out the back road (Westside?) to Hubbard and back via 33.

On Hubbard, I saw the Dorris' name on their mailbox, so I stopped in and saw Mike. I think Walt and I stopped in after a Freezeroo race in the early 90's. They were our next door neighbor in EA until about 1977.

Got to see Chelsea's Rochester Warriors team play for the first time - I was out of town for O events for their first 2 tourneys. They are pretty decent - it's nice seeing Chelsea work with some girls that can pass the ball (and move without it).

Tuesday May 22

Running 36:09 [2] 4.5 mi (8:02 / mi)
rhr:46 slept:5.5
Easy run out Main-Goodman and thru the 'hood. All of the comments from the locals were very friendly today, and with the weather being so nice, and the pace being so easy, it made for a very pleasant run. I hardly even noticed the little aches and pains leftover from the Billygoat!

Map Run 40:29 [2] 4.5 mi (8:59 / mi)
Accidental TNT with Nate. I meant to be on the golf course (left work a bit early), but there was a women's tournament scheduled (on a Tuesday evening?!?) with a shotgun at 5, so I wasn't allowed out, or on the driving range.

Nate needed an easy run, so we went to Ellison Wetlands and took turns running with the map for 3 minutes, and trying not to stop to relocate. Stayed mostly on trails (not a whole lot of other good options without a premeditated reason for leaving the trails).

Monday May 21

Note
(rest day)
Deserved a day off, so I just put the runners thru their last real workout of the season.

Sunday May 20

Orienteering race 2:03:23 [4] *** 12.5 km (9:52 / km) +400m 8:31 / km
spiked:18/24c slept:8.0
My first Billygoat. Not too bad, but I ran most of the course alone. Wanted to find someone consistent to chase, but got stuck having to go right at the start, since the mob was to my left. Ross got way ahead going up the hill. Still rejoined the pack ahead of the Saegers, but fell behind when I followed someone into the woods too early. Going up to C2, I knew they made the right decision, going left, but since everyone else went right, I did, too. Big mistake - had to skirt some nasty stuff and come into the control backwards, seeing the Saegers well on their way out. But I really lost most of my time on 5-6-7, with some horrible route choices, some difficulty finding 5, and having to unload stones from my shoe on the way to 6. It would have helped to have been with a group (or someone) thru this section. Things got much better for awhile, and I was moving fairly nicely along the trails. But I had a poorly executed skip of 22, and went from a minute ahead of Brendan before our skips (he skipped 23) to a minute behind him afterwards.

This was a great deal of fun, and I hope it fits in the schedule next year.
C • Very nice!-) 2
Running warm up/down 8:00 [2] 0.8 mi (10:00 / mi)
Just a little jogging at times before the start. Wanted to be ready to move quickly, if necessary.
