Orienteering race 1:12:11 [4] 6.4 km (11:17 / km)
Well, to be competitive after running 13 miles yesterday (including some VERY quick efforts), I had to be pretty clean. I was not. Some of my bigger misses included C2, where I knew I started at the left-most reentrant and should have worked my way to the right, but instead, went right by one reentrant, then back to the left to the hilltop to relocate. Also the control after coming back west of the main trail. When I popped out on the trail, I knew I was left, but did not see the gully farther to my right, just the ridge that looked like it could be a spur. I followed it, even though it was running more parallel to the trail, instead of the required perpendicular. After I recovered and ran down the correct spur, I ran just left of the tree with the bag, without seeing it, so I had to climb back up the spur to find it.
There were a few other problems, but those two alone were more than enough to cost me the race against everyone except feet. At least I beat nate!
Running 13:00 [2] 1.53 mi (8:30 / mi)
8 minutes before, just 5 minutes after. I really wanted to take advantage of being at Letchworth and hitting the trails, but I really, really wanted to see some of Zach's hockey game. As it was, I arrived just after the start of the 3rd period, having missed Zach's goal by 2-3 minutes.
How 'bout them Bills? At this rate, I imagine they will be Dickless quite soon.
