Running 1:04:00 [2] 8.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +2m 8:00 / mi

Running around during the Bulldog Stampede at Alden. We ended up running 6 races, because we had a bunch of PSAT kids that didn't get there in time for the JV races (and 1 Varsity boy).

McQuaid conditions were rough, but these were much worse. I didn't check out all of the woods, but saw enough to get a feel for it. Plus it rained much of the day, making spectating conditions tough, too.

The juggled lineups made for poorer results than we should have had for the boys. If Will had made the start, we would have been 2nd instead of 5th in the Varsity race and a full complement of JV runners would have placed 3rd instead of 7th. And our JV girls would have been 5th of 9, instead of incomplete.

Val and Amanda went 1-2 again, running safely ahead of EA's second girl (Marta did not run, sadly). And the rest of the girls picked up for Sarah's missing the race, and grabbed 2nd over Starpoint.

Running 25:13 [3] 3.0 mi (8:24 / mi)

Easy run thru Summit Knolls during XC practice. We went from Schroeder because of the weather (cooling off with a chance of lightening), so that the risk of disruption would be lower.

Running intervals 31:07 intensity: (17:10 @2) + (6:53 @4) + (7:04 @5) 4.25 mi (7:19 / mi)

Running during XC practice at Webster Park. Same workout as yesterday (for the kids that didn't do it yesterday), but I jumped in.

2 x 600m: 2:22, 2:20 (2:42 between, 3:20 after)
1 mi tempo: 6:53 (4:17 recovery while I waited for the 2nd group)
1 x 600m: 2:22 (couldn't do the second because of logistics - 3 groups at this point)

Hashing 37:16 [2] 3.31 mi (11:16 / mi) +52m 10:44 / mi

RH3 from Cobbs Hill Park. Have a few segments, so I'll download all and see what turns out.

Hashing 3:00 [2] 0.27 mi (11:06 / mi)

Hashing 14:00 [2] 1.14 mi (12:17 / mi) +3m 12:11 / mi

Running 31:00 [3] 3.87 mi (8:00 / mi)

Running around during practice at Webster Park. Once again, some of the top Mathletes are XC runners, and they have their October meet tomorrow, so they did their hard workout today, after the meet, instead of tomorrow.

They did 2x600R, 2nd mile T, 2x600T, then 4x3x200 Relay. I did:
8 min w/up
12 min during the workout
11 min w/dn

Running around before and during our XC meet at Black Creek Park.

About a mile w/up, checking out part of the course before the bus arrived. About 2.5 during and after the girls race, About 2.25 miles (with Luke) during the boys race. Impressive workout for Luke because there were two stretches where we had to run particularly fast.

The girls swept, with Val and Amanda going under the course record (at least since the records were formally kept starting in 2005)! Alaina clinched the meets that could have been close with Victor and Hilton by beating both teams' top runners.

The boys split, losing a surprisingly close meet with Hilton, 27-28, as their first runner sat out and our team came on during the third mile.

Running 42:55 [2] 5.2 mi (8:15 / mi)

Easy run at Webster Park during practice. Went a different route than usual - from the campground. past where the gate used to be to the creek, across then took a small trail off to the right that led to the park's western boundary and followed that, often on a small trail or deer trail, to the Whiting Rd cutoff. Did a short out and back at Whiting while I was there, before heading back via the southern boundary,

Running 2:40 [5] 0.5 mi (5:20 / mi)

8 strides - tried to run hard and still couldn't keep up with most of the kids.

BFLO Map Hike at Hunters Creek with Zach before the Bills game. Went easy.

Only had 45 minutes, so we weren't able to clear the southwest section. We got 25-24-23-22-9-8-7-10 (had to skip 12 because of time, sadly) - 13-20-19, then skipped 21 on the way in.

The Bills are only home once more before December, so it will be a challenge finding time to finish off the map hikes.
