Map Hike at Hunters Creek with Walt. We just did two controls, but it sure gets dark early now. On the way back, had trouble staying on the trail, which got me a little nervous, since we were on the east side where an error to our right means going over the edge.

Probably should have brought a headlamp, even though we were going to familiar terrain. Oh well, a little spice is good for life!

At work until 9:45, so just squeezed in a few exercises (6).

Finally back in the pool. Quite slow, but I was able to do a reasonable facsimile of a breaststroke kick.

Biking 10:06 [2] 2.91 mi (3:28 / mi)
ahr:122 max:145 weight:181.2lbs

P=166, C=69
w/up first half, then caught up to the 180 pacer

After the workout, I weighed in on the official Bills scale and it said 183.8, so I ditched the shoes and the sweat-drenched shirt and shaved off 2.6 lbs. but still set an all-time high. Now that the US Nationals are behind me, it's time to get back to real workouts and drop some pounds before I start running two months from today.

Biking 30:13 [4] 7.87 mi (3:50 / mi)
ahr:144 max:159

P=180, C=63
I was looking for a soft PR, since that is this month's challenge - you get points for each new PR, and this seemed to be one. I was ahead of the ghost for over 5 miles, but he cranked up the last serious hill and took off on the following downhill and pulled away.

Biking warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.5 mi (4:00 / mi)

Thank you Expresso! They added new games, so I played Coin Flip for 10 minutes. You can choose whether to have speed or point bonuses, or both available - I went with both and scored 65,524 in an easy 10 minutes. Need 300,000 points to unlock the next game in the series (there are three series).

Biking warm up/down 2:00 [2] 0.5 mi (4:00 / mi)

Extra 1/4 mile recovery after each of the two courses.

Strength 5:00 [1]

Took advantage of the resistance bands in the weight room to knock off the 3 PT exercises that use them.

Orienteering 1:19:32 [1] 2.61 mi (30:26 / mi) +119m 26:40 / mi

Walk to the start to see Zach off, then carried his sweats as I wandered around on a spare Green map. Didn't do the last loop as I had sunk up to my knees in muck coming off the FLT near a water stop. So much for keeping my good shoes clean...

Zach made a couple of mistakes that left him just over 3 minutes out of first, and behind a total of four cadets.
