Note
(rest day)

Left work early and hustled to Victor for Luke's meet, but traffic was backed up in Buffalo and I lost about 20 minutes, and ended up just missing Luke's first race. He popped a 2:13 to lead off his sprint medley - a special JV race - and his team ended up winning.

His effort got him scratched from the 3200, so he could be fresher for the 4x8 at the end of the night, so Christine and I zipped down to the Thirsty Turtle where they served me a tasty margarita for Cinco, then came back for the rest of the meet.

Luke managed a 2:17 at the end of the night (the 31 first 200 took away his kick).

Note
(rest day)

By the end of Luke's track meet, I was very cold, so we went to Salvatore's for dinner instead of to the Y for exercise.

Luke was only 5:28 in a very windy mile, all by himself after the first lap (76, 79, 90, 83 were the splits). He then went 58.9 in the 4x400 with very bad handoffs on both sides. He was assigned to the JV relay, but only 1 of the 4 varsity kids went faster than him.

Went up to Hunters Creek with the official 2017 Map Hike map. After the very heavy rain today, I knew the west side would be all mud, so I figured I'd try the east. I got the first control without a problem, but headed towards the second one and had no way to cross the "tiny" stream on the straight line, so I went down to the trail and couldn't believe how fast and heavy the stream was flowing; there was no way to cross without a serious risk of being knocked over and swept over the cliff. So, I turned around and got a couple of controls on the west. C6 seems to be too far south - my tracks indicate C6 (#4) and the stream crossing (#5), which are supposed to be just over 25m apart.

ROC Meet @ Rotary Sunshine Camp - Green course

I did lose some time going to C4 because I couldn't really tell where I was relative to the open area and had to relocate with the trail. The other "lost time" shown on the splits was that I had to walk most of the way after C8 as my hip had had all it could take.
