Orienteering race 1:06:56 intensity: (5:35 @1) + (22:06 @2) + (21:08 @3) + (13:11 @4) + (4:56 @5) 4.34 mi (15:25 / mi) +94m 14:27 / mi
ahr:139 max:167 weight:174lbs

Did the ROC pre-season training course at Mendon Ponds. Wish I had looked at the times before I ran, as it would have been good motivation to try to shave a minute off my time. Was nice enough that I had to wear shorts but there were several patches of thorny stuff so I did some bleeding. At times it was more like a hashing course than Ann orienteering course!

The hardest part was not being able to rely on my best skill, pace counting, as we don't have a working printer at the moment, so I had to use my phone on the course, which meant I had no way to reliably determine distances. I lost a fair amount of time on C4, as the white went further at this time of year and the hill was too subtle for my eyes.

I also had trouble using the compass because getting it near my phone totally threw it off. It was only a serious problem on C12 where I wound up heading for the wrong hill after crossing the trail north of where I thought I was headed.

ahr:85 max:124 weight:173lbs

A walk with Christine before the birthday dinner, which this year was just a takeout cheese pizza (well it did have jalapenos on half). I, for one, am ready to help restaurant industry workers earn a living again, as soon as it's generally safe.

ahr:116 max:146 weight:172lbs

Another Ghost Trail, this time set by FRB and Dookie at Durand Eastman. I had hoped to make it a doubleheader by hitting the ROC training course too, but I wrapped up work to late to pull that off. Lots of cars in the lot when I started by the only hasher I saw while I was on the course was Vowel and he was in his car.

Couldn't find the right bike pump, but the tires were only a little low, so I took the bike out for an easy ride. It was a bit chilly for biking but I was ready for some kind of cross-training activity with the Y closed for the foreseeable future.

Continuous "running" at Ellison Park. The hills were steep! RIT has gone opposite of the direction I had hoped now that they had the quary house donated to them. They have put up a bunch of orange posted signs along the trail that we've been using for decades. It was easy to ignore them today.

A walk around the neighborhood - started too late so I finished in the darkness.

Running 38:14 intensity: (26 @1) + (12:14 @2) + (11:13 @3) + (6:44 @4) + (7:37 @5) 3.73 mi (10:15 / mi)
ahr:143 max:163 weight:171lbs

Took advantage of one day of great weather to get in 4 x 0.3 mile at a decent pace. One before meeting up with Christine on Scribner and 3 after leaving her at Angie Ln. Averaged about 8:18 pace across all of them, including one at 7:52 pace where I almost felt like I was actually running.
