Decided to break out my skis for probably only about the third time since being incapable of skiing before my first hip surgery. Figured driving over to Shadow Pines was not a big investment.

Strapped the skis on and I could barely stand, so I was mostly double-poling around the trails. On the second loop I did some very gentle skating. I couldn't really do much weight transfer and have any hope of staying upright. And even the slight downhill that I hit were terrifying, mostly due to worries that falling might be a problem for the broken pinky. Due to the abundance of caution, I only fell once, right before the end, at the end of a small downhill with spectators approaching who felt they had to ask if I was ok.

So, pathetic skiing, but not a disaster and I can try again with the temps staying below freezing for the foreseeable future.

I just couldn't seem to stay with any groups after the ride-in and part of the first loop, but did do some back and forth with one other rider for the third loop. Decent power for the ride overall, so that was good.

Broke the draught by stopping at the Edgewood lock and running east almost to Monroe and back. Rough going in the snow to Clover as there was a narrow trampled path, but it was very lumpy. They plow the canal it Pittsford, apparently, so that stretch was good, but icy in spots. Went 2 song jog / 45 sec walk, but headphones died with about a mile to go.
