FCH3 from the canal in Macedon, set by Diarrhea. Nice trail given the linear constraints of going along the canal.

RBC Ride from Mendon Ponds Beach lot. Included climbs up Garnsey and Steele. Couldn't really keep up with most of the pack on the uphills and I REALLY couldn't keep up with them on downhills - even if I pedaled like made, they could coast faster than me - need to but some thinner tires for days like this. Stayed close all the way to 251 then started losing sight and I didn't hear my phone tell me to turn. Luckily I was headed in the right direction and was able to turn north on West Bloomfield (where I had to get off my bike to go around the large truck that was trying to get a large sealing truck out of a ditch) to get back on course on Taylor.

Charged both my Garmin and my Edge but left both at work and accidentally paused my Fitbit in the middle of the ride, but I do have this link of the ride which says I did hit 41.6 mph coming down Baker (and still lost ground).

Billygoat at Letchworth (West) - at least I earned a shirt.

Started out OK with a fairly open run to C1 with lots of visibility to keep an eye on others. Held up OK over the next several controls although the steep hills and uneven terrain slowed me more than others in some sections, including getting caught in some muck on the way to C7. Was near Kickstand going to C8 and I hadn't seriously considered skips, thinking I would wait for 15 or 26, when we saw the folks on the road leaving 8 clearly bound for 10A and we decided that looked pretty good. I was missing C11 a bit left, but saw the bridge and corrected and C12 was easy.

Then I struggled - was alone and didn't pay enough attention on the way to C13 - thought I was past the tower, so went around a marsh and realized the tower was still in front of me, then I left it at a bad angle and had to bail to the trail where I made a very poor decision to go straight and left of the pond, taking the aid station out of play. That did not seem like a bad idea at the time, but it was as the lack of water/gatorade slowed me dramatically later on.

Heading to C14, I got distracted by all of the people that were leaving C15 and ventured well off course. After that the navigation was mostly good, but I had to walk most of the uneven stuff. I did get fooled by C16, staying one tier too high and I missed a bit right on C18. Mark Salas got by me on the uneven stuff leading to C23, but I was in no mood to race at that point and just shuffled in.

Map Hike 25:45 intensity: (22:33 @1) + (1:30 @2) + (49 @3) + (53 @4) 0.84 mi (30:39 / mi)
ahr:107 max:151

Picked up just two controls as I wasn't sure how much ground I could cover.
