Run 58:14 [4] 6.1 km (9:33 / km) +220m 8:05 / km

First Day of Cancadian Orienteering Champs.
Some minor mistakes but nothing major. Area
pretty green. Overall I was slower than possible but
happy with my performance.

Orienteering (training run) 43:23 [3] 5.2 km (8:21 / km)

Training event. Stayed in woods to practice when trails would have been faster.

Orienteering (trail run) 44:55 [3] 6.0 km (7:29 / km)

Run to Stinky lake. Did one orienteering leg to check out map area.

Orienteering (Whitehorse sprint 0) 14:31 [5] 2.7 km (5:23 / km) +35m 5:03 / km

Ran hard but missed on control because of kids
sitting around it.

Orienteering (Can short champs) 43:10 [4] 4.2 km (10:17 / km) +150m 8:43 / km

Map way to technical for me. Out of start I was
lost. After having Jon Torrance lead me most of
way to number 1 I slowed way down until I could read what I running. Had one other sizable mistake but overall happy with my performance.

Other (Hike)6.0 mi ( / mi)

Hike to St. Elias Lake in Yukon.

Tuesday Jul 13, 2004 #

Other (Hike) 2:00:00 [2] 6.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Hike from Skagway to some falls. A lot of climb
initially. Distance/time estimated.

Monday Jul 12, 2004 #

Other (Hike) 1:50:00 [2] 3.5 mi (31:26 / mi)

Hike to Icy "lake" and lower Reid falls above Skagway, AK with Ted. Icy lake is filled from a 10" diameter pipe that feeds from a dam at the top of Reid falls and then just blasts into the woods about 200m away from the falls. The pipe has been recently replaced, so the stream seems to just flow over the leaves and around trees and such.

Sunday Jul 11, 2004 #

Other (Hike) 4:22:00 [2] 7.0 mi (37:26 / mi)

Hike to Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau alaska with
Eddie Bergeron. Glacier was really cool (and cold).
We climbed down the rock to actually touch the
glacier.
