Orienteering (Bike) 52:14 [3] 7.2 km (7:15 / km)
Did the Bike Orienteering course to pick up the controls and water. I hadn't been able to ride before the event because of my rib. I had a great time. Just the right mix of easy and mid difficulty. I had the advantage of knowing the course/trails but having never biked it, it was still hard as the trails come up so fast. I did make one wrong turn going to the finish but nothing major. My map was wadded up ball by the end as I don't have a map board.
There was some concern there was too many places you had to get off the bike but there were only a few where I had to get off. I had to get off whenever there was a log down across the trail. The northern stream crossings had a steep bank so I got off for them and stayed off getting up the steep bank after that. I intentionally took the route walking through the woods to #8. I got off and walked going down the steep hill to #12 (I have biked down worst but since I was by myself I opted for caution. everywhere else I biked..
I went 5.95 miles
Orienteering (foot) 45:53 [3] 5.0 km (9:11 / km)
After the bike course. I took about a 5 minute break (with a gatorade) then went out picking up the foot controls.
First time I had run/jogged since breaking a Rib. Rib felt ok but my thighs were very tired from biking. Lost a little time on control 11, and drifted way left on 13 but was fine for everything else.
