Orienteering race 1:31:45 [5]
Another typical average classical race for me: Started with a broken compass (I should have known..), which cost me around 4 minutes at the first control and took a lot of confidence. Other than #8 no real mistakes anymore, even though 2 controls didn't match with what the map showed, but then I broke down on the last 4 controls. I should have eaten more before the race...
Final thought to the whole weekend: Races and results to forget, the prettiest girl in US orienteering to remember. If only I'd had the chance to talk to her...

Orienteering race 43:34 [5]
Not my terrain, not my weather, and I don't like starting last especially in this weather (there is not even a single advantage in going last...). Considering this I did alright. Typical mistake to control 2: came out of the deep gully, didn't consult my compass and ran off in the wrong direction: at least 1:30. 12-13 was mapped totally weird, but I didn't make too much of a mistake. Worst ever: missed the finish! But how was I to know that these two controls in the mud were supposed to mark the finish? That cost me approximately 10 seconds, so I'd still be in the same rank...

Friday Apr 1

Event: Flying Pig IX (US Team Trials)

Orienteering race 16:58 [5]
Felt terrible, just couldn't run. It might have been the injury of the last few weeks or just the almost 9 hours traveling to the meet. I couldn't handle the map either, didn't expect these deep gullies which I don't like at all. I probably should have got this map in advance instead of East Fork Park which didn't help at all.
