| did this torch walk down the mile in edinbergh. It was a lot of fun. You got this long torch and carried it to this hill where they were burning a viking ship. There were around 2 thousand people doing it to, and guess what no fires. at the end they also had fireworks. It was a lot of fun and something that would never happen in philly. | ||

| for my birthday my aunt put together an kind of o-ing course. there was no map but she wrote out clues that lead us places in the city where we had to answer a question. it was fun and i learnt a lot about my dad from it as he used to live there.
shouldn't really count this as we weren't walking that fast but we did walk up a lot of hills so i'm counting it. and when does your aunt make an "o-ing" course for you to do on your b-day?

| ran around in circle on the 5th floor. Did a lot of drills to work on form and strangth. the last drill killed me. we had to do like leep frog except we weren't leaping over people just leaping on our own. and we had to do a whole loop around the 5th floor and i died at the end. i actually didn't think i was going to be able to complete it.
legs hurt a lot at the end, that night, and the next like 2 days. oh and sadly i got all this up to late so no one gets to read what i wrote for the mid atlantic champs

| orienteering race 54:06 [3]*** 4.76 km (11:22 / km) | ||
| 13c shoes: o-ing shoes | ||
| ok it has taken me way to long to get this up!!!!
Last o-ing meet of the year (well at lest in the USA might try and go to one in scotland) ran orange so DVOA could get more points. had a pretty good run. only messed up 3 contorls and not that badly. I think my main problem is just not being able to run fast enough. The three controls i messed up were #5, #9 and #12. #5 was just me having a brain fart and almost did a 180 mistake. i crossed the stream and started off down the stream the wrong way but about 5 steps later realised and turned around. #9 i was on a smaller trail than i thought i was, so was looking on the wrong side of the trail for the control. relised this right when it turned sharply to the left and thankfully my control was on the hill derectly to the right. #12 i have no idea why it was so hard. And still not totally sure what i did wrong. well i know i went to far to the right i think? but got to rerun it in the relay and saw a better route to it. but like i said before over all good run just need to get faster. 1:40 2:28 59 5:09 5:46 3:47 3:03 3:55 7:18 2:57 6:52 5:56 3:11 1:05
| orienteering race 19:53 [3]*** 2.37 km (8:23 / km) | ||
| 9c shoes: o-ing shoes | ||
| ran the first leg of the relay. Dad ran the second and Sandy F. ran the third. We were a great team and ended up coming in 2nd after all our bonuses (which ended up being 14.5 mins! i got 5:56, dad got 90 secs, and sandy got almost 7 mins)
Sandy actaully told me before the race who i should follow. and that worked out perfectly!!! i could keep up to him and he didn't mess up. So i took this run as more of a training run than a race. I kept up with everyone and just watched the routes they were taking. And only ended up i think around 4 mins behind the winers of the leg. GO team ALJOSA!!!!

| stretching warm up/down (and strength) 15:00 [1] | ||

| our warm up laps around the 5th floor, stretching, and then strength stuff. Sculs, push-ups and jumpies. | ||
| running 36:35 [2] 3.5 mi (10:27 / mi) | ||
| shoes: brooks s257 | ||
| ran only 3.5 miles today because my legs hurt from our stairs on tuesday and our warm up. Also my coach didn't want me running to far if i was going to be racing on sunday. The 3.5 miles didn't seam to hard however i can't seam to break a 10 min pace for more than 1 of the 3 miles. that is kind of annoying me.
10.56- school to lloyd 9.54- next mile 4.45- half a mile back to lloyd hall 9.08- lloyd hall to 2 blocks from school 1.12- jogged/walked back as a super sort cool down
Tuesday Dec 5 | ||

| not sure how to log this so i'm putting it all together.
5 mins of warm-up strength stuff then we ran stairs: 5 sets (up and down as one) of a 5 story building 30 sculs 4 sets of stairs 25 push-ups 3 sets of stairs 30 sculs 2 sets of stairs 25 push-ups 1 set of stairs 30 sculs glad we did stairs because i found out this weekend that running up hills is SUPER hard for me so maybe a few more of these will really help me!!!

| Ran my first Brown course today. It was fun! Hard but fun. I had a lot more problems than I thought I would. The map was a 1:5 and not a 1:10 so that messed me up a lot. And I knew going out the map was bigger than I was used to so made sure that I wouldn't run to far. So didn't over run anything (if anything didn't run far enough) I think my biggest problem was I wasn't used to the contours on a 1:5 map, so I was thinking every thing was a lot flatter than it really was. Because of that I made a lot of poor rout chouses. One control that should have taken me about 50 seconds to get to from the last took 3:25 mins. I ran and thought, "ok it is going to be in a depression on my left as I run along this spur" yeah well it was in the depression all right. It was down a relatively steep hill in a depression. I found one of the orange controls before I found my own. Then I fell and slid on my butt down the hill into the depression. NOT a fun control!! Another one that was bad was from 12 to 13. Because I wasn't used to the contours I thought the bank along the stream wouldn't be to steep. Well I thought wrong it was SUPER steep. I went down and up, down and up, along and down and up again before I got to the control. Not a good route chouses at all!!! Other than those two big mistakes I think I did ok for my first brown. I can't wait till next year were I get to start running them (and green) all the time.
splits: #1- 2:45 (no problems) #2- 2:10 (again no problems) #3- 3:01 (was a little to far to the right) #4- 3:53 (didn't go far enough before i started looking for it) #5- 2:22 (no real problem) #6- 2:56 (found the green control before mine) #7- 3:25 (the first bad control i talked about before) #8- 3:52 (went back to 5 because i was to far to the right and then went from there. don't think the control was on the right place but was close enough. maybe it was because it was the only place to hang it) #9- 2:43 (was hidden so didn't see it right away) #10- 1:59 (no problems) #11- 4:49 ( had no problem getting to about 50m from the control it was just hidden so well i was looking around there for about a minute before i actually found it) #12- 2:26 (another one i didn't see right away) #13- 6:35 (my really bad route chouse) finish- 1:45 (should have run a bit faster but oh well)
