Event: JWOC 2007

walking tempo 15:00 [1] 1.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
shoes: Saucony
Walked to Lloyd hall with my parents for thier dragon boat practice.
running 48:46 [2] 5.0 mi (9:45 / mi)
shoes: Saucony
Really crapy run!!!!
*no modivation
*Too hot
*forgot to streach
*dehydrated (didn't have two nalgine bottles yesterday)
the list could go on and on... so really did not enjoy this run. I went out the speed i ran my last 7 mile run at and i was doing really well!! but then i don't really know what happend but i lost that speed and got really slow. Only ran 5 miles instead of the 6 i wanted to. But i guess the good news is that the speed i was running at before i left (10 min mile) felt super slow and easy. Hopefully next run I'll have some more motivation and be able to keep my speed up, maybe I need to find a running partner.

8:28 - around the speed i ran my PCE at (surprizingly)
9:32 - short water break
10:34 - really started losing it mentaly (and water break)
10:40 - short water break, had no motivation to keep going, wanted to walk
9:31 - saw my parents out on the river and wanted to beat them back to lloyd hall

my coach would have been really upset with me becuase of how big the range is in these splits. I know your supposed to keep them consistant but i really couldn't do it.

361 miles to go!
walking warm up/down 15:00 [1] 1.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
shoes: Saucony
walked home with my parents as a cool down from my crapy run.
stretching warm up/down 10:00 [1]
tried to really stretch out. I think part of my problem was that i didn't really stretch out after my PCE and that is why my legs were hurting more than normal today. Falling asleep in the sun and being wet from canon balling into the pound without stretching = a very bad idea that will come back to haunt you.

running (PCE) 1:18:00 [3] 7.0 mi (11:07 / mi) +156m 6:29 / km

OUTWARD BOUND- PCE (personal challenge event)

ran a 7 mile trail run at ~ 6:45 in the morning. It was a lot of fun!!! It started and ended on a gravel road with a big trail run in the middle. There was a super big hill called chestnut mountain in the middle. I walked up that but ran the rest of the run. I beat most of the guys that were doing the run which was also cool. after wards we got watermelon which was nice and we did some canon balls into the pound which felt nice. also i was only 8 mins slower than what the instructors have to run the route in.

366 more miles to go.

OUTWARD BOUND- DAY 12

we did the ropes course today which was a lot of fun! I was one of the last people to go so i got to take a ton of photos of everybody else going. It didn't look to scary from the ground but once you go up to like the highest circle (~100ft tall) it was VERY SCARY!!! and to get down you had to go on a 75ft tall swing that had a little bit of a free fall when you start out. That was the best part though. It took me a few counts of 3 though before i actually let go and swang. I think the scariest part though was having to walk across a log with out holding on to anything like 75ft in the air. I actually couldn't really do it i got about 3 steps in before i had to hold on to the ropes that were tying me in. But i think this ropes course was one of the best things i have done! I got ride of a lot of fears on it.

in the afternoon we did our service project. We had to clean up part of the trail we hiked the other day so it wasn't so over grown and people could use it again.

Hiking 7:00:00 [3]

OUTWARD BOUND- DAY 11

second day of final. Hiked about a mile or two along a road to the bottom of piolit mountain. There we stashed our big packs and hiked up the 5080ft mountain with our day packs on. half of us stoped for lunch half way up, the rest of us eat lunch on the top. You couldn't really see anything at the top as we were in a clowd. Then we hiked back down, got our packs and started the walk to base camp. Not sure how far we walked but it took us a while. When i figure out the mileage i'll try to remember to add it here. but yeah so we hiked down the trail made a right, a left, a right (on to a trail actually before the one we were supposed to go on and that was over grown), a left and then looked for the red dot trail after we passed the base camp sign. We were all very happy to see the red dot. then we hiked down to the pond and our camp site, Passing the ropes course we were going to climb on the way.
