orienteering 1:18:00 [3]*** 7.2 km (10:50 / km)
24c shoes: o-ing shoes
ran green at the DVOA local meet. didn't have too many problems other than it being hot and so i didn't run as much as i would have liked. oh and my left cleat has such a big hole in it that it was weird to run in and kinda felt like i wasn't even wearing a shoe. guess it is time to get some new ones.

Alexies training notes- (that i'm doing a bad job of keeping up with)
Start to 1 ? watched others start so knew what direction to run in. Also you could see the tree that it was on from the start just not the control. So followed the path everyone else had bush whacked to the control.

1 to 2- plan was to run along the edge of the field to the parking lot cut up the road and hit the road intersection, then run to the right side of the open land and up to the control. I did just that but I didn?t really tell what the open land was but it was so open that after I got half way in from the road I actually saw the control hanging low on the tree.

2 to 3- plan was to run up to the road and cut up into the woods when the semi-open land got wider, hit the rootstock and then the pit. I did that I think I was a little over from where I planed to be in the woods though.

3 to 4- ran a long the indistinct trail or actually the bush whacked trailed just below it to the control.

4 to 5- came out of 4 a little to far to the left but ran to the semi-open land then to the road. Someone was actually standing at the control when I got there but I slowed down anyway as it looked as if it was a very small cliff that it was on.

5 to 6- decided to run along the edge of the woods, (as I didn?t want to fight through the mountain Loral.) to the corner where there was a trail. Here I made a parallel error I started looking on the hill right after the first trail junction when I should have looked on the hill past the second one. It took me a while to figure that out sadly.

6 to 7- plan was to run down the trail until just before the junction and where the top of the reentrant was, then run down the other side to the control. I did that but slowed down to soon and didn?t go far enough to hit the control at first.

8 to 9- cut up to the main trail right as I got out of the control. Ran along the main trail until the road curved on my left and then slowed down to find the indistinct trail on my right, which I then ran down to the boulder.

9 to 10- dropped down a little on the hill and then countered around. The rootstock was pretty big and easy to see.

10 to 11- ran down to where the field, woods and road meet and then ran along the side of the road to the control. Should have ran faster on this leg.

11 to 12- crossed the road and then ran down the paved trail to just before the second intersection and to the tree.

12 to 13- crossed over the field between the buildings and down a little trail and across the bridge.

13 to 14- went to right around the pond. Just below the other water feature. Then hit the corner of the fence. Ran up to the road. Then ran along a semi bush whacked trail that kinda went to the left and up the little bit of green in the field and then cut into the woods and went straight up from the green to the rootstock. Was an ok route chouse but I didn?t run much. If I went around the edge of the field I would have been able to run more.

14 to 15- ran along the trail passed two trail on my right and then when the trail made a sharp turn to the right I saw the rootstock and ran into the control

15 to 16- plan was to cut up to the trail intersection and then cut in a little to the right from there. I cut up to the trail a little to far to the left so had to run down a little to the intersection and then I cut in and drifted a little to far to the left but I think that was good as I might not have seen the control if I didn?t aim off the depression which I saw was a little bit off to the left of me.

16 to 17- crossed the path, the two dry ditches, the river and the trail. Then ran up the side of the reentrant to the left of the two fence enclosures, over the small saddle (I saw it on the map but didn?t really see it) and then into the control.

17 to 18- plan was to cross over the dry ditch, the top of the two reentrants right above the water and then counter around to the control. I ended up going to high and actually hitting the trail on my counter over. But could see the clearing from the trail so that was good.

18 to 19- went straight down the hill to the platform.

19 to 20- Cut down the hill to the left of the green and hit where the trail cuts right across the side of the hill. Ran along the right side on the spur and then around and down to the bottom of the cliff.

20 to 21- just cut strait down to the road, ran along the road to the control.

21 to 22- 22 was the same control as 13 so ran back the same way I came to go to 14. Around the left side of the building, crossed at the top of the small water fetcher, and then around the left side of the pond to the control.

22 to 23- control 23 was the same as 11. So ran back up the trail cut across the small field and then ran along the side of the parking lot to the crossing. Should have run faster here.

23 to 24- Plan was to run up the trail then head off to the left and hit a trail and take it all the way to the control. Well It started off well I ran up the trail and started cutting over then I?m not sure what happened. I think I might have just been tired and thought I made a parallel error, as when I cut over to the left so many people had run there it made a trail through the high grass and so maybe I just forgot that I was looking for another trail at the corner of where the green forest sticks out into the field. Any way some how I thought I wasn?t far enough to the left (when I was actually already too far) so started cutting through the stilt grass moving slightly to the left and in. This is when I finally noticed all the small hills to my right and figured out that I missed the trail. Got on the trail and then found the control.

24 to finish- ran along the trail out of the control to another trail and then cut up to the road. Took the road all the way to the finish.
