DVOA President's Cup Event - Warwick Park
Fun event put on by Vadim. This year Presidents cup event was a Susquehanna Stumble and Billygoat inspired event with couple of twists. The competitors run between 5 numbered windows in sequential order, but within each window there are 5 controls which can be visited in any (random) order. In additional, based on your age category, you are allowed to skip up to 3 controls in each window. (ie. orange got to miss 3 per box, brown 2, green 1, red none). For M21 runners they had the extra challenge of entering and leaving with the same control, i.e whatever control in the box you selected to go to first you had to go back to it before moving onto the next box. Fun course in that it meant you saw several people from different age categories on the way depending on how many controls they had to visit within each box.
At first I was going to run Green, but at the starting line i decided hey why not run red and get more training in. So ended up running red. It was a slow start up the hill during the first box though and wasn't looking forward to the rest of the course. Then started feeling good and picking up the pace. Was running near Karl for a good part of the race, then lost him. I hit my left knee on a stick really badly in the middle of some green :( grrr. Then caught Karl again, we picked different routes for the 4th box though. I messed up the 3rd control in that box so Hugh then caught me there and you can just see my splits speed up a ton after that as i try hard to keep up with him. In then end he got through the last part of green better than i did and beat me by 17 seconds :/ So Hugh the battle is on for this spring! haha.
Over all not a bad run. Two problem points but other than that not bad. I really need to start running more though!

SAT subject tests = not fun! Went and took the Physics and Math level two. I'm praying that it was good enough this time!!!!! My brain was quite numb after it. And the guy who was proctoring didn't have a clue as to what he was doing :/ he had us start and then stop for him to calculate an hour and then start again on the first test ugh. That messed me up a bit. grrr

DVOA winter meeting.
I tried to present about JWOC. It would have worked very well but most of my photos didn't show up :( thankfully all the maps did and i think people enjoyed what i had to say. But the main point Greg and I wanted to make was:
Left 3rd place champions at 2002 US Champs, right members of the USA Junior team.
Also at the winter meeting this year i got to learn about the epunching system and GPS watches!!!! yay. Now i just have to figure out how to use Quickroute, but that will wait until i can get on dad's laptop. Silly macs not going stuff and then PCs not liking Mac made presentations.
Then it was the meeting. Helped put DVOA stickers on panflets for a good part of the meeting. That made it go a bit faster. Oh and i got to meet the new Swedish family that is now part of DVOA!!!! very cool! I'm excited to see if the lady will help me this spring with training.
Heather and I also won Ranking plaques. I'm very proud of heather for all her racing this year! I know it must be hard playing volleyball and orienteering.
I felt very special as Wyatt started presenting me my plaque. He helped me realize that i have done a lot this year! JWOC, F-20 us champ, and now DVOA 18 and under champ. I was also very close to beating out Angelica for the Womens cup. (that'll just have to happen this year haha). It was wonderful to be able to go up and stand next to Angelica and Corrine and actually know i'm right up with them. I have sat at the winter meeting since 2002 watching them and others win awards and just wanting to do that. So being so close was a nice feeling that it is in my reach. This was also my 8th and last plaque from DVOA. Great feeling! Thank you DVOA really for everything!!! and to my parents for putting up with me haha.

A nice run with Jeremy during my lunch period. I'm so glad Mr Lehmann let me out to go run with him so that i could clear my head before my SATs tomorrow. It was a bit colder out than we were expecting :/ And this was the first time i had run, like plan running, since before i got my wisdom teeth out. It felt good! And I didn't hate the path since i haven't run along it in so long. So we ran up to Girard Bridge and back. Had a nice chat and got some fresh air. We were so discussed when we walked back in the building and it smelled like processed food ick!!! It was great to have a mid day run! The day hasn't felt quite as long so far!

biking 20:00 [2] 4.37 mi (4:35 / mi)
slept:11.0 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 9
Went to the gym with mom. Spent the first 5 mins finishing our discussion on how i'm going to get to the Flying Pig event. (still up in the air) and then the last 15 i spent looking at maps. Looked at two that Carl sent out. Rold Skov Nørreskov and Blokhus Klitplantage. Did CAR with the loop courses on both of them. Then attempted to do higher or lower, and boy oh boy is that hard!!! I can easily pick out what is up and what is down but making it from one control to the next in some places is REALLY hard!!! Must do some more practicing on that.
Kept rpm above 90 the whole time and i think above 95 for a good portion but wasn't really paying attention to that.
erg -rowing machine 20:00 [4] 4.2 km (4:46 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 9
Next was 20 mins on the erg. This was kinda boring after being able to read maps on the bike. So played a game with myself and the meter counter. I tried to see how high above 100 i could get each minute. That led to being able to get over the 4k mark i wanted. Felt pretty good through the whole thing to.
strength 12:00 [2]
A bunch of different weight things with mom and then crunches.
Crunches: 25 legs together on floor, 25 legs apart on floor, 25 leg together in air, 25 legs apart in air, 50 side crunches both sides. then 1 min of held superman.
