Happy Memorial Day! Brownine points day. Did the usual mowing, etc., but also got the pool in shape, cleaned the garage (80%), and washed the windows. No, really.
Rest of the day will be spent on barbecuing and beer.
Um... oh yeah, tomorrow's Tuesday. I will not be going in.

Evening Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

Decided to wait until the rain stopped before I went on my evening walk. Went much later than normal. It's interesting, the different type of personalities that my neighborhood has depending on the time of day. 5 AM, lots and los of cats. 5 PM, kids and families out in the yards; people walking and talking. 9 PM, traffic and more traffic. TVs glowing in windows.

Morning Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

Last day of school! I did notice a sort of shocked email from someone regarding this commitment. The writer of the email was lamenting the fact that we are counting down the days until we go back to work. It does seem counter-intuitive to do this until I realize that this is one of those occasions where one does not look to the end of the journey, but to the journey itself.
Have a great summer, everyone. Don't forget to log all of those daily pieces of the journey.
Hey, it's 6:30 AM on a Friday. That's all I got!

Playing 30:00 [3]

Played catch with the boys with a softball instead of a baseball. Trying to get the old man in shape to play for the El Dorado staff team.
7 PM

Evening Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

Did the same rout that I usually take in the morning. Lot more people out there at 7:30 PM than there are at 5:30 AM!

Morning Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

So I talk a lot about the different podcasts that I listen to when I walk in the morning. This morning I was listening to This American Life again. This is a program that, in one hour, has me laughing and welling up and everything inbetween. The hour just flies by.

Evening Walk 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

Man, I was full up on Chinese food and then realized at 7 that I had not done any real exercise all day. I did not want to go on a walk, at night, with the possibility of rain. Went anyway. I hope that raffle prize is a cruise to Cabo.

Morning Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

I woke up and was walking into the dark living room. Across the room, I noticed two bright blue lights, one much brighter than the other. It was my son's iTouch charger. The other light was its reflection off of our shredder. The weird thing was that the reflection was brighter than the original light. It made me think that as educators and parents, our students and our children are often just reflections of ourselves, and the goals that we have for them is simply that they shine brighter than we do.

Morning Walk 40:00 [3] 3.0 km (13:20 / km)

Got up at 4:45 (harder than usual today), got dressed, put in my ear pieces and started to walk. THEN I realized that it was raining a little. Too late to crawl back into bed and try to work in something this afternoon. I took a couple of shortcuts and made it a 40 minute walk instead. Glad I did.
Happy Monday!

12 PM

Playing 1:30:00 [3]

Playing catch and working on batting practice with my boys. Donovan is turning into a real ball player. Kayden, in spite of the garbage I was pitching to him, hit a whiffle ball way over my head and into the pool. A splash home run! I immediately searched his room for syringes and 'topical cream.' No grand jury for him!

Evening Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

Missed this morning's walk. May have had something to do with Cinco de Mayo. Anyhoo, I had a nice walk with my wife, Charmaine. She actually walks at a faster pace than I do. We snuck into the back yard of a house for sale in our neighborhood and ran like little kids when the neighbor's dog growled at us through the fence. Sheesh!

Morning Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

Got 8 hours of sound sleep last night. Feel amazing this morning. Listened to This American Life. Interesting article on the writers for The Onion. If you haven't read this, look it up on the Internet. Very funny stories written in dead-pan news format. Comedy writing takes a ton of work!

Morning Walk 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

First time in a long time that I overslept! Since I was off of my normal time, I decided to walk only for 30 minutes this morning. Spring is definitely here. I actually hit a couple areas of warm little gusts of wind. How long until I'm complaining about the heat?

Morning Walk 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)

This is the kind of morning that makes me happy with where I live. It was just beautiful watching the sun coming up, listening to the wild turkeys, chickens, and other birds waking up.
Ironic that I went to bed with Wild Turkey and woke up with wild turkeys.

I'm really going to have to spread out my yard work to an hour a day instead of trying to do it all in the first good week of Spring!
