Ran barefoot with Paula on Shell Island beach which is at Panama City, Florida. It was a beautiful non-humid day with warm crystal clear water and nice powdery white sand. We sometimes ran in knee deep water just to add some resistance. The biggest thing we had to watch out for was broken sea shells which were very sharp. We were down there for Paula's 30th high school reunion.

Warmup with Paula and Annie at the high school.

3x1min lactate acid intervals. Ran a little more than 1 minute all out. 5 minutes of jogging around rest. The intent is to build the lactate acid (or whatever science thinks it really is these days) in the legs and then train the body to clear it out. Trying to move the lactate acid threshold upwards.

Rode with Paula on the tandem to downtown, OSU, and Witham Hill via the bike path off of Harrison.

Paula and I took a introductory climbing class at Portland Rock Gym. We wanted to know enough to screw around in the gym on the walls. It was a lot of fun. If I get tired of all the whining in orienteering I'll take up this sport more seriously. There wasn't much aerobic activity, so I won't record much time. The only time anything actually got tired was when I tried an overhang. Whoa, there goes the forearms!

Climbing up and down the stairs to our seats at Wicked. Fun play, but I would have enjoyed it more without so many songs.

Rode to work, to haircut and back, then home. Okay, I didn't get the haircut afterall. I waited 25 minutes past my scheduled time and gave up. That makes the third time this week that I have had an appointment and no results.

First drove to work so that I could take Annie to the vet for a teeth cleaning "wellness check". They recommended that I take her to a dog dentist (yes, they have dentists for dogs) to get a root canal for her cracked canine.

Afterwards rode my bike to work and home.

My navigation wasn't very good today. At one point late in the race, I thought I was at the point where I wanted to leave the trail. So I climbed the boulder field up to the top then realized that this new direction is going to be hellish, so I had to beat my way back to the trail and continue the race.

Detailed terrain. Couldn't really open it up because you would blow by the control. Made a 4 minute mistake on one control.

Was doing okay, then I went from 4 to 8. When I finished I thought it was an awfully quick race. At the download they told me that I was missing 3 controls. Looking at my map I realized that I hadn't done to 5, 6, and 7. I went back out and got them, then redid the rest of the course.
