Mtn Biking (with tagalong) 25:00 [2]4.0 mi (6:14 / mi)
Jasper and i went for a ride today after loading the Mac 8 onto a trailer for repair at the boathouse. Down to Minnehaha Academy and back through the neighborhood. some fun puddles.

Thursday Feb 28

Mtn Biking (with tagalong) 20:00 [2]3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)
Jasper wanted to ride to school in the winter. I talked him into riding home instead and then the snow began. We actually had a lot of fun. He had been talking about it all day at school, but was a little surprised that I actually showed up on the bike when it was snowing.

Wednesday Feb 27

Skate Skiing 40:00 [1]3 km (13:20 / km)
After much looking around at Richardson Nature Center, including 4-5 trips to see the raptors outside and the turkeys through the viewing area, we went skiing. Jasper on his own and Rena in the Chariot. What a great day. the skate lane at Hyland was in outstanding shape. I was bummed I wasn't out for a long ski. We started at the nature center went out the spur trail and joined up with the North loop for a while before turning around.

Saturday Feb 23

Skate Skiing race 2:51:58 [4]50 km (3:26 / km)
Birkie. It went perfectly. I PR'd by about 7 minutes. The only place I could have made up some time was the start and maybe skied a little harder at some of the flatter spots. Extremely happy with my race and only started getting muscle twinges coming across the lake within 2k of the finish. Cold at the start and warmed up throughout the race.

499th overall. I think 452 of men
C • Congrats on a new Birkie PR 3

Thursday Feb 21

Skate Skiing 51:00 [1]6 km (8:30 / km)
Annual pre-Birkie ski from Fish Hatchery across 77 and up the last big hill of the course. Molly and I got out and skied, taking our time and then back to Fish Hatchery for a lap. View is cool from the high point. Definitely a ski for mental wellness more than any physical benefit.

Tuesday Feb 19

Classic Skiing 50:00 [1]6 km (8:20 / km)
Convinced Molly to go to Battle Creek with me. We had a babysitter and everything. Not quite the outing I had envisioned. One loop was plenty chilly. Full moon and overlook of St. Paul was very cool.

Sunday Feb 17

Skate Skiing (with Chariot) 1:00:00 [1]5 km (12:00 / km)
Skied with Jasper's MYSL group. I think they may have actually skied a little farther. Fun to see them skiing and to finally run into Darryn at the class. Nice day to be out.

Saturday Feb 16

Skate Skiing 1:56:00 [3]34 km (3:25 / km)
Four laps of the outer loop at Battle Creek. Very nice day. I waxed too warm and my skis were slower than Dave's. Not planning on skiing too hard, but on our second loop a guy joined us and I had to go nearly race pace to keep up. One highlight was seeing a hawk snacking on a squirrel until we skied up and scared it.

Thursday Feb 14

Skate Skiing 1:02:00 [3]18 km (3:27 / km)
What a ski. It was one of those nights that I think I could have skied another 3 hours without getting tired. The snow was perfect. The temperature was cold but good. It was definitely the best ski of the season. Classic or skate Battle Creek is worth the trip right now.

Tuesday Feb 12

Skate Skiing 1:08:00 [3]19 km (3:35 / km)
Another great day at Battle Creek. Two laps of the outer loop and one of the easy loop across the street. Trails are surprisingly good. Still just a couple of ice spots.

Saturday Feb 9

Skate Skiing race 1:26:57 [4]26 km (3:21 / km)
Pre-Birkie in Hayward. Very happy with result. Started fairly hard and able to stick with it. Skis were not as fast as th epeople I was with on downhills. I was able to stick with the group by climbing pretty well. The Birkie trail was in great shape.
25 degrees...about an inch of fresh snow. Fast Wax Tan, 95th overall

Wednesday Feb 6

Hiking (Snowshoe) 45:00 [1]1.5 mi (29:59 / mi)
Took students snowshoeing at Fort Snelling State Park. It was a great hike. I learned a number of things from the naturalist and all of the students were pretty good sports. Ended with a fun snowball fight in the parking lot.
Skate Skiing 40:49 [3]12 km (3:24 / km)
Quick ski at Battle Creek before Molly was to take off for Elm Creek. I did one outer loop and one trip around the lighted loop. The vast majority of the trail was in great shape. A couple small icy patches on uphills.

Tuesday Feb 5

Skate Skiing 23:00 [2]5 km (4:36 / km)
Warm up and cool down at Highland Golf Course in St. Paul
Skate Skiing 13:00 [5]3 km (4:20 / km)
1 minute on 1 minute off intervals X 7. Just to answer any math gurus out there I counted my last rest time into my cool down.

Monday Feb 4

Skate Skiing 1:09:00 [3]20 km (3:27 / km)
Got over to Battle Creek in the late evening with Dave P. Good effort with 5 laps of the lighted trail. Conditions were pretty good.
