Monday Jun 30

Note
bike commute to Jasper's soccer practice, store and home. Not enough to log, but I am kind of keeping track of how many times we takes bikes instead of cars.
Running 51:00 [2]5.0 mi (10:11 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2110
Did an 18 minute loop down River Rd with two reps of the stairs at 34th St. Then met Molly at home to run to pick the kids up from school. Jasper rode hiis bike home while Rena enjoyed the ride in the Chariot. Legs just a little stiff from Saturday.

Saturday Jun 28

Note
Tri-Loppet
Paddling 15:00 [2]1.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
Paddle to the start of Tri-loppet
Paddling 53:08 [4]8 km (6:38 / km)
Paddle leg of Tri-loppet. Boat felt pretty heavy this year. I think it was the chubby guy in the bow. Time was about a minute slower than last year, but fairly strong head wind in sections.
Trail Running race 25:34 [4]5 km (5:07 / km) +40m 4:55 / km vdot: 37.2
Runnling leg. Didn't remember starting with the long hill last year. Took a couple minutes for legs to warm up. Had a pretty good run, passing a number of people.
Mtn Biking race 33:40 [4]11 km (3:04 / km)
MTB leg. Wet and muddy. Felt good the entire leg. A couple tough climbs with the conditions.
Bike Commute 20:00 [2]4.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
Ride back to the cars after Tri-loppet

Friday Jun 27

Note
! day until the Tri-Loppet. Time for predicted times.
I am going 1:37
Furthest from predicted time buys?
C • hard to say since they have... 3
Paddling 35:00 [2]1.5 mi (23:20 / mi)
Quick paddle of our borrowed race boat at Lake Nokomis. While some teams think 1 practice paddle is enough, we have no illusions, so we practiced twice. Take that.

Thursday Jun 26

Bike Commute 1:05:00 [2]10.0 mi (6:29 / mi)
JM, home,JM, light rail, Franklin Ave. train stop, home, bike shop, home

Wednesday Jun 25

Bike Commute 45:00 [2]7.0 mi (6:26 / mi)
JM, home, JM, home, beverage shop, home
Orienteering 1:40:00 [3]*** 8 km (12:30 / km)
spiked:40/40c shoes: Vasque Blur 2
Setting and retrieving at Minnehaha Park. Hot and humid. Thanks to those who ran on Tuesday night. There were no problems with the course and remarkably not a single control was taken during the program.

Tuesday Jun 24

Bike Commute 2:00:00 [3]21.0 mi (5:42 / mi)
JM--light rail downtown for a meeting--work-home. Pushed fairly hard along University Ave. to work. No students, so I am really only offending myself if I smell.
Later...a few errands, back to JM, then to Minnehaha and home

Monday Jun 23

Bike Commute 1:30:00 [2]16.6 mi (5:25 / mi)
JM--work--home--Minnehaha Park--JM--Home--Soccer Practice--Home
Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]*** 4 km (15:00 / km)
spiked:20/20c shoes: Vasque Blur 2
Hanging tape at small joke park (get it Minnehaha) for True North program.

Saturday Jun 21

Trail Running 2:20:00 [2]13.0 mi (10:46 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Blur 2
From the house south along the river, down along Minnehaha Creek, then trough the dog park and trails to Fort Snelling.
Then back. Included an extra hill at the lock and dam and two reps of the steep hill at Historic Fort Snelling.
I think it might have been a little longer than 13, but it is tough to judge when running on trails.
C • now all you gotta do is add... 3

Thursday Jun 19

Bike Commute (commute) 35:00 [2]8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)
Commute to JM, then to work, then to meet Molly
Mtn Biking 25:00 [4]7.0 mi (3:34 / mi)
Once I met up with Molly we picked up the intensity. Plan was to ride down past Minnehaha Park and then back to JM to get the kids. Sections of this were up to 21 mph on mountain bikes. Not bad for a couple of weekend warriors.

Then Molly got a pinch flat on her front tire. In one of my more chivalrous moments, I offered to stop and change the flat while she continued on my bike to pick up the kids. She agreed and I worked in the hot sun changing her tube while she got to go about her merry way. About 12 minutes to change the flat.
C • To all the single ladies... 3
Bike Commute 20:00 [1]3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)
Limping home on a partially inflated front tire,

Tuesday Jun 17

Mtn Biking (commute) 45:00 [3]9.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
Note
Just thinking about the Tri-loppet. Will we be as fast as last year? faster? who knows.
Paddling race 52:00 [3] 8 km (6:30 / km)

Trail Running race 24:16 [4] 5 km (4:51 / km)

Mtn Biking race 28:38 [4] 10 km (2:52 / km)

Sunday Jun 15

Mtn Biking 1:28:00 [3]20.0 mi (4:23 / mi)
Legs 1, 3, 5, and 7of LAA Tri-Loppet training. Rode the Greeway to Lake Calhoun where we rented a canoe, then to Wirth Park for a trail run, then back along the greenway to lunch at the Bad Waitress, then home. Although the overall mph weren't great, we were riding pretty hard on most sections. On the way back we stopped a number of times looking for a good lunch spot.
Paddling 52:00 [2]5.0 mi (10:24 / mi)
Rented an Alumitub at Calhoun for paddle training. Paddled most of the course and did some technique work. Molly is a good coach. We also practiced our super secret 180 turn. Sure to launch us into the lead and capsize nearby boats.
Distance is total estimate.
Trail Running 24:00 [2]2.3 mi (10:26 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Blur 2
Running at Wirth. Locked our bikes next to 394 and ran through the Quaking bog section and back next to EB. Just a short loop. Distance is estimate based on time.

Saturday Jun 14

Trail Running 1:20:00 [3]9.0 mi (8:52 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Blur 2
Planned to do 10-12 but decided to shorten up in anticipation of long workout on Sunday. Had a very good run along the trails next to the Mississippi down to Minnehaha park and to the confluence of the creek and the river. Came back the same way.

Friday Jun 13

Mtn Biking (commute) 40:00 [2]9.0 mi (4:27 / mi)
Mtn Biking (with Chariot) 50:00 [3]10.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
Hauled both the kids in a borrowed double Chariot down the the bike race in Minneapolis. Very fun races. Worked hard on the way home because Rena was attacking Jasper and he was nice enough not to fight back. At times doing almost 20 with the trailer.

Tuesday Jun 10

Mtn Biking (commute) 47:00 [3]9.0 mi (5:13 / mi)
Daycare, work, home
Hiking 30:00 [1]2.0 mi (14:59 / mi)

Running 56:00 [3]6.8 mi (8:14 / mi)

Ford/Lake loop including a trip up and down the hill at the lock and dam.

Monday Jun 9

Hiking 18:00 [2]1.0 mi (17:59 / mi)
In the category of "Yeah, I'm logging this."
Walked home from the light rail station at 1:30 this morning after a late flight from Detroit. I did not want to stand around waiting for the bus. It passed me just a few blocks before my house.
Mtn Biking 25:00 [2]4.0 mi (6:14 / mi)
Picked up Rena and Jasper and took the long way home.

Sunday Jun 8

Trail Running 57:00 [3]6.0 mi (9:29 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2110
Got out for a trail run at Island Lake Park near Detroit. Cool single track trail. VERY hot and humid

Saturday Jun 7

Hiking 30:00 [1]1.5 mi (20:00 / mi)
Multiple trips around the JCC camp in Detroit scouting locations, checking out an aerial photo and topo map. Probably could log more time and distance on this one.

Wednesday Jun 4

Mtn Biking 45:00 [2]9.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
daycare--school--home

Monday Jun 2

Mtn Biking 45:00 [3]9.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
We pulled it off. Finally got everything organized enough to commute to daycare with the kids and then to work. Made it exactly the same time I usually do and I only left about 15 minutes earlier. I think Molly made it on the bike as well.

Sunday Jun 1

Mtn Biking (with tagalong) 47:00 [2]7.9 mi (5:57 / mi)
Took bikes to Grand Ol Day with entire crew for a visit to a school group that Molly has been working with. Caught the parade by accident and made it through our time there without one Vulcan spotting (very good).

Cheese Curds mmm
