| Welcome to the age of the Garmin 305. It is now my distinct fear that I am going to figure out that I have been overestimating my distance and effort level. We'll see how my data changes.
First hit--I have logged the Ford/Lake loop as anywhere between 6 and 7 miles. Most often i think i put it at 6.5. It is actually 6.2 I am also looking forward to tracking my heart rate more closely. Not to mention figuring out how to put my exact course onto maps. | ||

Back to the boat TA, then home. I hoped to get Rena home before she fell asleep, but she was out before we got out of Uptown. Luckily, I was able to transfer her to the crib without her waking up. Hope everyone had a good race. | ||

| Long run at Murphy. Started with mtb trail. That took about 1:50. Thought about doing that again, but that would have put at about 3:40 when I had planned for three hours. Went over to the ski trail side and ran whatever trails seemed open. The black flies on that side were horrendous. Finished just before three hours so I went out on the mtb trail side again for 2 minutes out, two minutes back.
Thoughts: Longest run ever by myself. It was awesome. Not sure if the black flies were mentally helpful because they distracted me from running or if they made it mentally more challenging. What I do know is that capital punishment--of deer flies--has no deterrent effect. Killed about 12--two I caught in my hand while I was just running along. Felt good the whole way. Knees hurt the last hour, but nothing more than usual. Ice bath--outstanding. | ||

| Took students to Como Lake for the jogging class. One student jogged the whole distance, 1 jogged about half, another about 1/3 and two more walked the whole way. I got my distance in because the two who ran went different directions and I got to run both ways.

Greenway to Calhoun, down to Harriet, back to Clahoun, lunch at north beach and then back to the Midtown Global Market. | ||

| Seeley 10k. Decided to do it the day before and glad that I did. even though the yahoos at the campground we were staying at kept us up much of the night, and I was a little dehydrated I was extremely happy with my result. Started off with the lead pack, minus one guy who completely took off, and then stayed with one guy most of the way. Passed him on single track, expecting that he would catch me once we got to open trails. He did not.
Finished 7th overall, but 5th in my age group. Go figure. | ||

| Tubing and waterskiing in Hayward. First time I've waterskied in about 20 years. Got up on the first try and had a lot of fun. Tubing: Rode with the little kids and then challenged the boat driver to try and dump me. He won every time. | ||

Dowtown to set course for PJC. Lots of tooling around looking at map and stopping. Good effort on the way there and home. If you haven't checked out the Guthrie's Bridge to Nowhere you should. Open every day from 6 am to 11 pm, and I think there is a full service bar on that floor. | ||
