Orienteering race 3:39:00 [4] ***** 13.5 km (16:13 / km) +330m 14:27 / km
spiked:15/21c
Team Trials Blue Course. Over my head. 3 major mistakes. Able to recover and get the last 5 controls okay.
Made a few small mistakes early, but felt pretty good with how things were going, until like Saturday the long leg (11). Did well with the rough navigation, but had to slow way down to concentrate. Missed the control by about 30 meters. Then things went down hill.
All of a sudden I could not judge terrain or distance and made some HUGE mistakes. Especially #13. I have no idea what mistake I made. Wandered for a long time, finally re-oriented, re-attacked, and missed it again. I finally got things back together (Shorter legs and better catching features) and finished. This points to a lot of work to do.

Orienteering race 1:13:00 [4] **** 5.67 km (12:52 / km) +115m 11:41 / km
spiked:14/17c
Fairly good run except for control 5. 20 minute mistake or more. Started fairly well. Small mistake on 2 then good until the long leg (5). Drifted north of my bearing, and was looking around the wrong streams for the control. Able to regroup and ran fairly well after that. Only a small mistake on 12.
Although it meant they were passing me, it was really cool to see the competitive runners make their way through the course.
Hiking 40:00 [1] 2.5 mi (16:00 / mi)
To the river and back for a swim. When you are trying to rinse off from orienteering, steep, muddy river banks are not your friend
Trail Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.0 mi (14:59 / mi)

Trail Running 1:46:00 [2] 8.0 mi (13:15 / mi)
Trail Running with Molly at Hyland. Great night, easy pace. Lots of wildlife. 8 or so deer, 2 pheasants, too many rabbits to count. Very good temperature.
Distance is a total guess based on time.

Tuesday May 16

Running 46:21 [2] 4.5 mi (10:17 / mi) +40m 6:14 / km
Franklin Lake loop. Very easy effort. Went down along the river on the St. Paul side

Monday May 15

Note
(rest day)
Legs really sore. Probably should have gone for a short run, but played soccer with Jasper and Molly. Then ate a lot of ice cream.
