Orienteering 1:57:00 [3]*** 10 km (11:42 / km)
spiked:14/16c shoes: Vasques
Plotted some possible legs for the Lebanon Hills meet and went to check out the features. Two thoughts: (1) What great terrain. (2)Holy tree cutting and trail Batman.
I was rusty--good to be on a map again--but the trail changes there make no sense to me. They have also been doing a lot of tree harvesting. Most of that in the prairie areas. I am guessing to restore prairie habitat.
There are a number of trails that are not on the map. I am not sure that all of the changes can be made by April. One of the problems is that the closed trails are just marked by little brown signs asking people to stay off. They were generally the ones that were more direct as well. I sure can get how people got turned around at night with all those trails.
It was an abolute blast to be out and by the end I was reading the map fairly well. Hopefully that will continue next weekend--Sprint and Badger. O season is here. Yee ha!

Running (with Jasper) 30:00 [2]3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Spur
Did a shakedown run with Jasper riding his bike--without training wheels. It went really well. I ran slower than I normally would, but I probably wouldn't have gotten a workout in if we didn't try this. I am looking forward to doing this more often. He needs a new bike.

Note
I just took a look at my 2006 ski season. In the same time period last year I had 760 k of skiing (compared to about 500 this year), and if I included roller skiing then it was 820 k. Very significant difference. I also did not ski once this year at race pace (not even close at City of Lakes Loppet). Last year I raced numerous times, and had quite a few decent hard workouts.

Other (Ice Skating) 52:00 [2]12 km (4:20 / km)
Skating with students. Would have kept going, but the pizza showed up. Distance is TOTAL guess.

Wednesday Mar 14

Note
(rest day)
Molly got to go run, and I got to watch an hour of Bob The Builder.
After reading the thread about using attackpoint I took a quick look at my ski season. I actually got in nearly 500 k. If I include rollersking I am well over that. Not bad. I'll have to take a look at last year to compare.

Running 57:00 [3]7.5 mi (7:35 / mi)
Ran to pick Jasper up from school with the Chariot. Then ran to Minnehaha Park to meet Molly and Rena to check out the waterfall and the creek. Hiked around some in the slushy snow. then loaded Jasper and the Chariot into the van and ran home from the park. Could have counted this as two separate runs, but effort wasn't different enough to justify it.

Had to run home holding my shorts up because the elastic finally gave out and they were falling down the entire way. Only wore those so I wouldn't embarass Jasper by showing up in my running shorts.

Mtn Biking 1:44:00 [3]39 km (2:40 / km)
Met up with Justin and Molly on the mid-town greenway. Followed it out to Hopkins, around back to their condo, then back home. Very good first ride of the year. The greenway had a lot of standing water which equaled some very cold toes by the end of the ride.
