| Ford/Lake loop. I thought I would get out and just get an easy run in. Then when I got to the St. Paul side somebody tried to pass me. I decided to try not to let that happen. Ultimately the teenager who was doing intervals or something passed me then stopped. I decided to keep running hard. I had a pretty good run. Headwind on the way back. My legs felt pretty good all the way. | ||

| Rode down to the boathouse with Jasper to reapair the Mac 8. Went for a short run in the woods. Jasper either picked up a wwood tick there or at the Sand Dunes meet. Molly yanked it out of his ear today. | ||

| Okay. So I could be completely negative on this one or look for the positives. I think I will stick with the positives. Navigated fairly well for the first 10 controls. Good route choices (I think) and if I missed it was only by one feature or so. 11, 12, 13 (possibly the 3 easiest controls on the course) I BLEW big time. 11; I drifted off the bearing because of vegetation. 12; I didn't stick to my plan and ended up on the wrong trail, 13; I made a mistake I haven't in the last couple of years and ended up circling the marsh at the south end of the long lake near 12 before figuring it out. My time this year was about 40 minutes slower than the similar length course last year.
So positives: Comparing the two I think this course was tougher than last year (fewer collecting and catching features). I navigated pretty cleanly on the toughest legs, took a couple of routes that I really liked and required me to pay atention through the entire leg. When I was off I was able to make sense of the terrain fairly quickly. The big mistakes I made were silly and can be fixed with focus. They involved trails and large features like lakes. It was when I sped up for the last two controls that I screwed up. 15 minutes more of accurate navigation and my time would have been very respectable. Like I said I am trying to stay positive this morning.

| Splits
Map;2.27, 3.44, 7.05,1.39, 4.22, 4.30, 11.45, 10.36, 3.09, 8.44, 6.25, 6.50, 20.01, 18.45, 3.11. Looking at the splits withouth the map. I also made a mistake on 2, but most of that time was spent being certain of where I was to avoid a big mistake. I am okay with that.
