Orienteering 1:26:58 [4] *** 7.53 km (11:33 / km) +60m 11:06 / km
spiked:11/14c shoes: Vasque Aether Tech

Okay run except for massive--10 minute mistake on 11. A lot of difficulty on 4 as well.
A few details later, maybe.
Very good course by Roberto.
Note: Since I harass people for not posting splits when they have a bad run, mine are already up.

Orienteering 56:00 [1] *** 2.6 km (21:32 / km)
spiked:7/7c shoes: Vasque Aether Tech

Usually call doing the white course with Jasper trail running. But, the course allowed us to do a number of controls through the woods following creek beds.
As he went to bed tonight he said his two favorite things this weekend were his soccer game and running the woods on his course today...especially the first creek. Not bad.

Hiking 25:00 [1] *** 1.0 km (25:00 / km)
spiked:2/2c shoes: Vasque Aether Tech

Rena didn't want to be left out of the orienteering fun today. After I got back with Jasper she said. "Can I do a course, dad?" Who can say no to that. We hiked the first two controls of white. She carried the map most of the way and kept stopping and pointing at the map. "We're right here."

She also said we were looking for leaves and whistles and birds on the map. She really liked punching the card.

Other 40:00 [2]

Coaching Jasper's soccer game. Normally coaching isn't a workout, but in this league the coaches are on the field. Also, Molly was out of town, so I was carrying Rena nearly the whole game.

When the game was over I was drenched with sweat.

Tough loss 4-0 to Powderhorn. The kids played great.

Note

From BorisG's log
a fun OTNT idea
"Hat orienteering" organized by Linné's juniors. The idea is this: you run in a team of two. The first person (#1) takes the map and runs to where the first control is supposed to be with a hat. They hang the hat at the first control and run back to the start/finish, where they hand off the map to their teammate (#2). #2 runs to the first control, grabs the hat and runs to the second control, hanging the hat there and returning to the start/finish to hand off the map to #1. This continues until all the controls have been visited. Good training which doesn't require pre-hanged controls.

Trail Running 26:00 [3] 3.0 mi (8:40 / mi)
shoes: Vasque Aether Tech

A quick run at a national forest campground near Ely. I was picking students up from Outward Bound and had a little time to kill. It is a cool little campground that might be wortha trip some day.

Also jumped in for a quick swim after the run. Very nice. Fall colors are just starting.

Decided to give a bit of an effort. Out and back on River Rd. new pavement that i am looking forward to roller skiing on. Foot didn't hurt. I wish I had HR information on this one, but didn't take time to find strap.
