TOTNT - Riverdale Rally Route
Long gone are the days of running the RRR every Thurs. Appears I've only run it twice in 2011. After the Scotia half I targeted today to revisit my old rally route friend. Conditions were certainly not ideal as the park was a bit of a sloppy slippery mess and the 101's ain't got no spikes. Glad to add one more notch to the RRR.

SMT failure...

So completely bummed out this morning! Hitting the hay at 1:30am knowing that I had to be up extra early sucked enough. I'd heard the westbound Gardiner would be closed for maintenance as of 2am this morning and so was trying extra hard to be out the door 20min earlier than usual to compensate for the slower drive along the Lake Shore to the on ramp at Jamison where the westbound lanes were open again.

However, what I didn't count on was the volume of cars and trucks on the road at 7am on Saturday morning! Typically it is pretty light and I figured the Lake Shore wouldn't be THAT much slower. However, I c-r-a-w-l-e-d along the route I ran last week at a slower pace than I ran it!

By the time I was within <100m of the on-ramp I saw on the clock it was already 7:42 ...game over ...a heck of a lot of swearing ...pulled onto Jamison and emailed those that I had addresses for telling them not to wait. Fucking pissed as my SMT with the kids is one of those luxuries that I look forward to all week. I could have really flown under the radar, but I've done that leaving Toronto at about 7:25 one-time and just making it ...wasn't a fun drive either.

Bottom line, waste of time, waste of gas, polluted the air for nothing but a 55min roundtrip of 16km.

Rant over...

SMT success...

No sub-3hr. Beat the crap out of my legs with a RTH prep run, finding every nasty climb I could along the DV and even a Turbo Tempo to close it out. Pretty fried by the time I walked back in the door.
