Orienteering 16:15:00 [3] 20.0 mi (48:45 / mi) +400m 45:54 / mi
shoes: Inov 340 Pair #1

My first 24-h rogaine with Dave Waller for which I seem to only remember the good parts. Both of us had blister management problems in the warm weather that dented our distance. The event was good prep work for a future attempt. Navigation was very good at the beginning and the route plan was good. Small mistakes were made later when we were more tired (distance estimation, concentration) but all were well recovered. Tested footware/sock combinations for long distance need to be worked out in advance and I need keep up my electrolytes. Our pace was very conservative in the beginning to save Dave's feet, but the cost was ultimately the loss of both of our feet without enough ground covered in the light. The southern part of the course ultimately made the decision with several hundred meters of double dark green marsh vegetation, poison ivy and unbreathable white bugs (an awesome experience once).

Distance and climb are still estimates (will revise later in the week).
