Worked hard on this, two clear errors on C4 and C6. The first was mapreading. I was focused on understanding a mapped hill with tag lines and then forgot that it wasn't against the trail that I was running down, so I overshot. The savings-grace was that this had me wading through the nettles back to the control which was a shallow reentrant N of the correct control site, so I got it. C6 was distance estimation. I got to the large plateau S of the trail, (thinking this is it, this is too soon)^n, where n is big enough that it was my entire thought process. Still, the too soon won and my legs kept pushing so I ended up around the gully system knowing I was wrong but not quite sure exactly where I was. Best solution would have been a straight-up backtrack but I tried to figure out which ravine I was next too, which just wasted more time.
After this, the course went well but it was long and quite warm, plus a few sustained climbs, so I was pretty zonked by the end.
Huge wind/thunderstorm after finishing; spent what seemed like 20 min hunkered down with Frank, Mike, and Aidan, worried that the picnic tables would go airborne. It horizontal rain and such a strong wind, you could barely breath during the gusts.
