By no means typical WR terrain but more enjoyable than anticipated, especially with a very well planned course.
Never really got going properly. Still struggled to plan ahead and got caught out legitimately by some cunning planning on several occasions. Unfortunately I also lost time in several other instances where uncrossable boundaries were obscured because the officials had neglected to cut lines / circles.
#4 Knew it would be at the high level but circle obscured exactly whether it was possible to get there from upper path so took the long way around [15]
#8 Delayed by sign stating no access from S but this leg was voided ultimately as a result (and the control was also moved early on).
#9 Unclear from map whether using underpass was a valid route (if so it would have been quicker as it avoided doubling back). Time removed anyway.
#12 Followed the zig-zag path to the east - west route much better [15]
#14 Ran down dead end to east of church due to course overprint covering uncrossable wall [30]
#15 No plan, went north and came back SE through the car park, possibly ok although few splits to compare (previous control not functioning earlier on).
#16 Had a bit of a plan this time, but the circle at #15 had obscured a wall (again) on the obvious exit route so I had to rethink - went north which was a bit fiddly and probably longer than the southern option [30]
#17 Went over the top. Steps down were steep and slow. Probably not a lot in it.
#25 Didn't transition well to this sprint style section. Read description incorrectly and looking on the wrong side of the wall briefly [15]
#26 Guessed at location being on top- was wrong. Idiot [10]
#28 Thought that I was being clever by retracing my steps south. Probably wasn't the best route to start with, but further compounded by the fact that the line from #26 completely obscured another uncrossable wall to the east of the building. Ended up having to go back past #26 [30]
#29 Didn't even register the western route over the bridge which would have saved quite a bit of climb. Strayed a bit off line when climbing the hill in the park so not convinced the bridge was necessarily the best anyway [15]
#31 Wrong exit from control and brief check on the upper level due to misleading description but did this better than most [20]
#32 Dodgy route (climbed more than necessary) and inexplicably looking on the wrong side of the hedge, but again seemed to do this control better than most [25]
#34 Poor overprinting again almost caught me out on the exit.
#36 Lost height unnecessarily [20]
#37 Brain freeze as to what path I was and ran in the opposite direction briefly [30]
Once again, great area and excellent planning.
