DEE Ainsdale Dunes
Wet, often prickly. Forested dunes were lovely, open less so. Runnability varied greatly in the open areas and it was difficult to know where the best lines would be from the map. Got completely stuck in undergrowth a couple of times.
#3 Went straightish - perhaps sticking to the path would've saved a little. Did catch Ed Calow 4mins here though; we had a bit of cat and mouse for the remainder of the course [10]
#5 Took on straight route again - definitely wrong choice this time as vegetation was awful. Forced onto top of dune to west. Then couldn't make sense of map - was seemingly just the wrong side of hillock but in a massive briar patch so headed back further west to relocate. Ed also messed it up in a different way and we converged at the flag [4m 20s]
#8 Took different route to south but lost time - could just be running speed?
#11 Just a poor line getting stuck in vegetation - no way to know from map [60]
#15 Off line but realised first [15]
Got away in advance of the forest section briefly, but then re-passed and couldn't keep up; tiring.
#22 Confused myself mid route, hesitant [30]
Finished drenched and a bit cut up but enjoyed it.
8th; 20mins behind Shminty... He was obviously trying a bit harder than at Croeso...
