Crich Chase Brown (Middle)

Beautiful weather!

Ok start. Pushed high en-route to #5 by bramble leading to overshooting control [90]
Headed off to #6 maybe slightly annoyed so not 100% sure of position, but features (rough open, rocks) seemed to match. Searched a few likely looking boulders but nothing. Fortunately (I thought) there was a very distinctive thicket to relocate from. Ah - I've overshot on the 1:7500. But hold on, that thicket is too high up the slope, can I really be there? Hmmm, well thickets are evidently mapped and this thicket is massive, therefore it must be on the map (I thought). It is much more distinctive than vague vegetation changes and rocky ground, so I will base my navigation around it (I thought).
Quite a long time later I eventually conceded that the thicket wasn't on the map and went beyond it to find the flag - the vicinity of which made much more sense. Presumably the event team checked the immediate control vicinity, but didn't think to check obvious routes between controls... Most other people were less stubborn / silly than me so l was last on this leg, losing around 15mins.
Ran angrily to the next control but it was hard to really be bothered after that farce! Found further map inadequacies and paused to help C find her penultimate control.

Third DVO event in recent memory where I've had map 'difficulties' - must resolve to avoid their events unless Parkino has made / updated the map...
