SYO Treeton

Perhaps went into this with the wrong mindset for the time of year, but surely a better course could have been planned even taking into consideration the undergrowth?

#3 Thought I'd see flag from path at veg boundary so carried on briefly when I didn't before realising [30]
#10 Just couldn't understand why we were leaving the top wood after just one short loop - turned over map to check whether we'd be returning later, which we weren't. So distracted / annoyed. Loss of concentration led to starting off the wrong way around lake (chose southern route) so small diversion. Then when attacking control went in too early and got stuck in undergrowth. Seems northern route was quicker anyway... [100]
#14 Another 'route choice' leg... Ran through the finish. Almost stopped in protest at the crap course. (RG numbers add one from hereon due to map change...)
#15 Went low which appears to have been the wrong choice [30]
#20 Had forgotten how to navigate after another mind-numbing dead run. Wandered around above the control trying to work out the unmapped clumps of trees before returning to the break in slope [45]
#21 Got stuck in a load of crap trying to take a different route to Barber [15]
#22 Went in too early for indistinct path and stuck in crap as a consequence [60]

Hopefully wasn't too rude after downloading!
Positive was that back eased up slightly and felt better for this - need to be vigilant though.

Note
(injured)

House tasks interspersed with stretching and an amble along Edale Skyline. Back no worse but still unhappy.

Tennis 2:00:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Babolat All Court

Rain threatened for a time, but determined to play having not being able to for some time.
Unfortunately probably overkeen - insufficient warm-up and twinged back slightly - deteriorated from manageable baseline...

Very hot!

Billed as a park, but this was a deceptively tricky little area. Lots of little tracks and open corridors with horse jumps everywhere. The map was a little out of date in places which made things interesting.

Mostly managed to keep an eye on the compass to ensure I was in the right area but ended up somewhere unexpected a couple of times (most notably en-route to #7).

Unfortunately the wood was full of stinging nettles and the abiding memory is one of painful, tingly, itching legs which led to a very fitful sleep that evening.

SINS Day 3 Brampton Bryan

Nice bit of wood in the south - not too enthused with the northern part of the area, or the course planning towards the end of the course.

#1 In my mind I was saving climb. In actuality I ran further, through worse terrain and made the approach to the control harder. Relocated off depression beyond [80]
#8 Snaky route did not pay off [60]
#11 Struggled to interpret veg boundaries when almost upon control [75]
#14 Should have used ride rather than direction of run. Then hesitant once in the open [60]
#20 A horrible leg - tried to use path but made a mess of getting to it, then it was slow with fallen trees. Feature was negligible. Quicker to drop down to valley, but then it would just be a trudge straight up the hill to come straight back down again... [90]
#21 In the vicinity quickly but took some time to find the flag amongst the thickets [60]

Over 10mins down today, but remained 2nd overall - enjoyable weekend.
