Bretton Clough and Eyam Moor
Always struggle here; physically was already feeling sluggish in the very first loop and it was a trudge to finish thereafter.
#3 Poor direction, parallel error punching wrong control, ran past actual control without realising, then eventually realised and went back as it had taken so long for the linear wooded hill to appear [105]
#8 Avoided climbing too early but the point I selected to ascend the slope was particularly nasty / marshy and the pseudo-plateau was actually relatively pleasant [60]
#9 Low route to approach from the bottom of the crag would have been faster I feel [30]
#10 Nice route choice leg. Thought I'd take the option of all the way around the bottom; minimising climb and maximising path run to read ahead even if not the fastest. Unfortunately it was rather muddy most of the way so looking at the map was second to looking at the feet... Not sure which route is fastest?
#13 Missed in the circle slightly. Caught by a kid who was far quicker than me but very erratic.
#17 Careful bearing having binned lots of time in this area before. Worryingly didn't see elongated knoll en route but found it ok (for me and others in the vicinity sadly).
#19 Maintained height as far as possible. Wobbled en-route - getting very tired - then no discipline at the end of the leg [2m 30s]
Crawled around final loop.
Knew I was not exactly fit, but this was rather worrying!
