landed safely in STL w all 3 bags but bikes still in Miami. what a horrible airport! took us 2 hrs to go thru customs and re-check thru security. only made our STL flight bc a kind employee walked us ahead in TSA line.

MMAC complete! here are some post-race notes in case the race happens again, or anyone wants to go to Belize.

we took a race-provided shuttle from San Ignacio to BZE on Friday. the shuttle also took our gear and bike boxes.

we stored our bike boxes and gear bags at All-In-One Travel Services for $5 US per piece per day. All-In-One is located across the parking lot from BZE. next to Avis.

then we took a regular taxi to the water taxi.

there are two water taxi services in Belize and we took Ocean Ferry Belize. seems to be more locals on this boat. $29 US round trip ticket. not as many daily trips as the flashy San Pedro Belize Express company.

then we landed in Caye Caulker and walked 10min to Ocean Pearl Royale Hotel. about $30/night per room. these were small but clean and had private bathroom. really nice courtyard for the hotel too. and the owner, Gertrude, was really helpful.

we ate at Brisas del Mar for happy hour snacks, Rose's Grill for dinner, Brisas del Mar again for breakfast, Roy's Blue Water Deli for dinner, and Paradise Cafe for breakfast. i really enjoyed all of them. service everywhere is pretty slow, but that's island time.

on Saturday we went snorkeling with EZ Boy Tours. the dude (Richie) working the office was a trip but gradually won us over and convinced us to book. the trip was awesome. 12 people + 2 crew. 3 snorkeling stops and the highlight was we saw a sea turtle! fresh ceviche and rum punch on the trip back to Caye Caulker. highly recommended.
