Adventure Race 29:04:26 [4] 132.52 mi (13:10 / mi) +6947ft 12:32 / mi

USARA Nationals! Karta Racing (me, Andrei, Erl)

Cloverleaf
Trek A - we picked to start on foot because it was the most simple. as we trekked we kept re-hashing the cloverleaf and changed up our strategy on the remaining leafs. 60 minutes pre-race was not enough time for this but I'm happy we were able to keep problem solving after the race started. we crushed the trek, although I think so did Good 'Nuff because they were slightly ahead of us at the put-in.

Paddle C (the big one) - well it got windy and Erl had to work super hard to keep the boat straight. we really wished we had started this first (as most of the teams did). we saw the first paddlers coming back and based on spilts, I was thinking we could do the loop in the 3-3.5 hour mark. well it took us i think 4hr. we could see a pack of teams steadily gaining on us and worked hard to stay ahead (of Bones specifically)

Bike/Trek E - in TA with Bones but smoked the bike and stayed ahead of them, proud team moment. went CCW on the magnetic anomoly trek and had 2 bobbles, one with B1 and the other with the penultimate CP (spur). I tweaked my R ankle on this and tried to baby it and it recovered. cool woods. smoked the bike back as we were still ahead of Bones.

Paddle B (the small one) -

Bike D - Erl carried most of my stuff. Bones smoked past us!!! like with incredible speed.

Bike to TA2 - Erl added more of my stuff to his pack. it was heavy - 2 pairs of wet trekking shoes. we should have adjusted because i led this section easily while he had to work super hard to keep up. Danky Dank was Dank and we knew it would be. we kept encouraging teams who were walking that the rest of the trails weren't this hard.

Telemark O - inner loop then outer loop then recalculate then 19 and 20. my head was off for some of this (dizzy-ish and hard to focus, maybe too much excedrin??) but it got way better once i started eating pretzels and the sky lightened.

Bike to TA4 - chose to get 2 CPs then gravel to TA

Last O - greener than we wanted and my feet were sore. honestly i wish these last woods were more open like Trek A.

Bike Home - just a gravel road ride to finish. a team passed us late and i refused to take it easy and made us dice to the finish!
