Definitely a learning experience today. Terrain ruined me and my hamstrings, which finished me off. A lack of terrain training meant the specific muscles were almost none existent. I knew I wouldn't be particularly fast so I thought I'd pay more attention to getting the nav right and choosing good routes. Start - 2 was fine, picked up trails where I could. 2 - 3 got off track very close to the control, went slightly too far. 3 - 5 went swiftly. 5 - 6 took the trail north of the control and I thought I was south of it. Had to backtrack to the road and start again, then figured it out. 6 - 8 nav ok, poor route choice, went up through the bloody heather when I could have gone round. 8 - 9 wasn't man enough to charge through the branches until I realised i was going far too slow, so just went for it. 9 - 10 was good, then picked up two other guys and trained with them to the drinks point near 16. Went down hill from there, legs started tiring and hamstrings started cramping a little. Kept on, slowly round to 17 and stacked it on a slippy log. Fucked after that, trundled across to 8 then called it quits. Didn't have too much distance left, probably could have jogged it but was hitting 150+ minutes :/
Also, didn't stop my watch until I got to my car, hence the time.
