Cycling 33:45 [4] 11.35 mi (2:58 / mi) +75m 2:55 / mi
ahr:149 max:160 shoes: Giant A1

Adversane-Ashington - Planned to ride around 20 plus miles at around 153 HR but legs hadn't recovered from Friday or social. Ideal road for tt practice with several short hills. I'd just about managed to overtake two riders before the steepest hill and blew what was left of them going up it, only to find one had slipstreamed me leaving his mate behind. Discovered you can raise a hand to acknowledge others riders on aerobars, but don't try waving at them otherwise you end up heading rapidly towards a hedge!

Need a decent saddle. Yet another reason to do just one circuit!

Swimming 21:00 [2] 0.7 km (30:00 / km)

SSP(50) - Tired from last night. Easy and unstructured, max distance 100s.

Calf sorer than usual. Probably due to being hillier and cramping, verses recent short flatter higher HR TT races.

Cycling 1:29:00 [3] 25.15 mi (3:32 / mi) +435m 3:21 / mi
ahr:143 max:153 shoes: Propel

Albury-Holmbury-Ewhurst-Shamley-High St: Started off as a slower ride over the hills and ended up as a fast paced extended ride in the twihtlight. Bike feels quicker uphill as well as on the flats. Initial tightness in lower abdomen with no spacer position that went away, replaced later with cramp in R calf that forced me to stop 3 times.

Swimming 24:00 [3] 0.8 km (30:00 / km)

Lido(shorts) - no idea how many lengths. Only did 100s without any structure. Crowded but didn't put off a duck that spent most its time in our lane and appeared to enjoy moving out of the way of swimmers at the last moment- the high point of my swim.

Encouraging signs- very little reaction from calf to Tuesday's TT.

Cycling 26:54 [5] 10.0 mi (2:41 / mi) +70m 2:38 / mi
ahr:160 max:165 shoes: Giant A1

Bentley FCR H10/8 Course - 28 degs (never known mouth/throat so dry), wind 14 mph from the east. Ideal conditions for me with the wind on my back up the hill at the start. Target was 27.30, but really hoped for 27.20, so chuffed with the time and how I felt. Kept relaxed on the fast flat sections and tried to maintain cadence on the hills by over compensating on dropping the gears. Did 13.35 to 5 miles and 13.19 on the last 5. My minute man overtook me at 7 miles and only gained 15s over the last 3 miles.

Pleased to be only 90s off my PB after just 3 weeks back on the bike after a 4 year break (ignoring a month of cycling in January earlier this year). HR also getting back to what it was in 2013 (163 av, 167 max during PB), suggesting no longterm CV deterioration beyond normal aging process.

Cycling warm up/down 15:00 [3] 4.5 mi (3:20 / mi) +40m 3:15 / mi
shoes: Giant A1

Short wu, so hot. Fortunately I'd allowed an extra 20mins on the journey.Just as well, did a U-turn near Normandy avoiding a 3 mile queue for the A331 that had one lane closed due to melted tarmac and came via Cutmill & Elstead.
