Orienteering race 49:22 [4] 4.9 km (10:04 / km) +180m 8:31 / km

CSC Pippingford Park
Best performance for a few years. Physically miles beyond my most optimistic hopes. Felt I'd been back O for a month, rather than 4 days. Technically very clean.
Arrived at start line with 40s to spare tired with painful unstretched hip flexors after running back to car.
3. -15s Crossed deep gully unnecessarily.
4. -30s Ended up climbing to forest road (not much slower it seems) & also long pause before control.
9. Hesitant, hadn't checked description, PJ recaught me.
10. -45s. RC going west of pond was quicker, however I was dying on the hill!
Re-overtook Gareth Bryan-Jones (M75) on uphill run in. Taken 40 yrs, after he took 20m out of me on a 150m BOC relay run in!

Orienteering warm up/down 7:30 [3] 1.0 km (7:30 / km) +30m 6:31 / km

Not far off TH pace!

Bagshot BAOC Short Green - Training for CSC Final.
5 months since last run & event. Physically better than expected, but technically woeful.
2. - 70s. Took bearing, failed to see flag and confused by new enduro tracks.
3. -5s.
4. -10s took first path rather than studying map.
5-8. OK!
9. -3mins Cut through and saw correct corner of veg bound, then saw valley (there were 2) and wrongly thought I was 50m away. Fitted map after that etc!.
10. -5mins! Parallel forest road led to going down wrong track, doubled back, then control was in wrongly mapped area, Found with others after wasting another 3 mins
11-13 OK!
10 mins of errors. Over familarity led to most of the errors. Hopefully better on Sunday.

Note

Getting good quality & quantity of sleep recently, but body wants even more- probably winter and training volume.
