Orienteering race 1:15:58 [5] 12.0 km (6:20 / km) +260m 5:43 / km
spiked:17/24c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons 212 (3)

Before the race I was feeling no pressure, but I was quite nervous, mainly about how I was going to cope physically: I had no idea how to pace it. I was also irritated by the compulsoury waterproofs due to a little drizzle.

1: P - compass from deprsssion, this was too weak but I executed well. 0. D - slightly right but ok. 1. P - 1.
A solid start, felt nice and calm and confident about hitting this well, which I did. I was also quite pleased with my little choice of taking the vehicle track out of the start and so saving some heather runnning. Most of the time lost (20secs) will have been due to slow running and being a bit hesitant, but i'd rather this than loosing the whole race (investing in time). Most of my bad runs I think all stem from a poor number one - need to sort this out.

2: P - run on compass, picking off depressions, over spur and into control. Not much detail needed. 1. D - Veered left on exit from 1. 0. However I was a ware of this very soon so not an issue afterwards. P -1.
I was very hesitant before the control, my picture didn't quite match the ground but I was feeling very confident on my compass so carried on and hit fine, perhaps lost 10secs lost due to technical performance, another ten physcially. I still felt very calm and was really enjoying it so far.

Note

Haven't got round to updating in a while. In short: last Thursday did sprintervals, Saturday did some orienteerig, Monday a short run with strides, yesterday a warm up simulation and some starts, all with Swansea uni map.

Very excited for the weekend, like last year not putting too much pressure on myself just going to enjoy racing!
