Easy pre-brekkie on Matley. Feeling tired and short of breath, hopefully will improve before RR10 tonight.

RR10, Blackfield - 6th.

Wasn't in the mood for this at all; not encouraged by feels this morning / yesterday and generally quite tired (took a little nap this afternoon and woke up three hours later). So when a bunch of about eight people shot off at the start I basically couldn't be sacked and started pretty slowly. Stayed at a very comfortable pace for quite a while and then upped it a bit by attacking a guy just ahead and made sure he wouldn't have a chance of getting back on me. Course was ok, muddy here and there and a few sharp inclines and turns but race was quite spread out so was getting a bit bored. Another guy seemed to be falling off the back of a little pack ahead so I told myself I'd get him by the end but didn't really believe myself or commit. Just wanted to turn the corner and see Mum and Dad who I knew were marshaling near the end. Finally got to them on a little hill with a bit more energy than I should have had and had reeled in the guy ahead a fair bit so attacked him on the flat and that was that. Kilometre or so to the finish, nothing really to fight for so pace dropped a fair bit. Generally lacking motivaiton tonight and also sharpness, need to get back into some solid training.

Running warm up/down 10:33 [2] 2.03 km (5:12 / km) +9m 5:05 / km
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talons 212 (5)

Bit of a grind to get this done.

First run in the Forest of 2016, so headed out for an easy 50 on Matley. Standard stuff. Tipping it down, seems like I brought the Edinburgh weather with me. Good fun though, forest is looking very green and still pretty damn muddy in places. Generally felt flat but got it done, need to extend the route though.

Awesome run with Will and bday boy Seb on Helvellyn. From the lay by up a cool little path next to a stream before cutting up to Seat Sandal. Then descended down a steep rocky path, round Grisedale Tarn and then up the zigxags onto the main ridge. Along and up to the summit, few photos, then started the descent. Some serious bad luck struck Ali as he did his ankle right in front of some punters. From there it was nice and slow down back to the car, more time for the views which were insane. Warm and sunny but with a bit of cloud on the top, couldn't ask for more really. Got my ass handed to me on some of the climb though.
