Headed down to the track for a nice little taper session. Was going to do my own thing but joined in with the usual group instead and did 6 x 400 (2mins). Little bit of a breeze but such a nice evening for it. Right on the shoulder of Mo for the first two but then their extra kick showed on the rest. Felt good though so pleased with that. Such a contrast to the track at Edinburgh, always so busy down here and some of them involved a fair bit of people dodging. Good fun session.

Amongst all the stuff going on was an evening football match between some classic shite teams. They were playing when I was warming up and when jogging afterwards with Rob and Georgina (?) the two teams were having a great fight, complete with some spectator involvement. Provided some good amusement and kinda sums up a lot of the footballing population.

Note

After writing a note that my throat is pretty much better it seemed to get worse again. Yawning is kinda impossible which is the main problem, although eating can be sore too. I'm fairly confident it's some kind of infection but it doesn't seem to affect running too much so I'm going to plough on.

Chiltern Challenge, Hambledon - Blue.
Started pretty hard and doing things well but perhaps unsurprisingly things fell apart around the same time. Legs felt very heavy, didn't have the motivation to push myself that hard, lost focus and made some mistakes. Didn't really enjoy it either to be honest, felt like a bit of a slog. Stunning day but first hot one of the year and was suffering on the course because of it. Can't complain though, very much in need of the southern climate.

It was a nice enough morning when I left Edinburgh but this run kinda summed up everything I've been craving for a while. Gorgeous afternoon in the forest, too warm for t shirts, and plenty of people out enjoying it. Legs feeling good which was nice but kept to the planned hour (and strides). Haven't had such an enjoyable run in a long time, been needing the southern climate as well.

Had work to crack on with so headed out early. Short recovery time between session and this wasn't great, felt pretty tired. Uninspiring route and it was a bit of a drag.
