Great fun with Dan, Sasha, Colm, Peds, Finn and Eddie along WoL and then up to the fake Pentlands with a stop at the cafe on the way home. Thoroughly enjoyable, plenty of good chat and some borderline chat too. Face tingles accompanying the low sugars on the way out but scranned many brunch bars and seemed to be ok.

Holyrood parkrun. Loop of the crags first and timed to perfection, arriving at the start line just as Luetch was about to hit the start button. Felt like working alright up the climb but legs faded badly from there. Sure enough the tell tale signs of low sugars stared coming on. Left the house at c. 10 and dropped to c. 4. Put paid to hopes of a chunky session but will get out again later this eve.

For reference, woke up at c. 7.5. Took 3 units fast acting at 8.15ish as a rough half dose for a slice of toast (25g) and a brunch bar (25g). Usual 4 units slow acting. Perhaps I should try taking a dose that equates to half dose for the fast releasing and zero dose for the slow releasing.

Along a busy busy canal and then onto Craiglockharts with Colm. Very enjoyable in the sun (!). Tops off through the golf course, prompting plenty of wolf whistles from a party at the club house. Meant to go gym and sauna after but too late. Alternative was chilling at lochrin terrace with Colm, Sasha and Dan, followed by ting Thai and jukola so that was all decent too.

Solo post work. Delighting in the confirmation that Adam Lallana is returning to St Mary's where he will once again be playing on the left and on the right, and in doing so, making Messi look shite. Quiet out, I guess because everyone's watching the footy.

Therapeutic trip to a quiet and wet Hermitage. Enjoyable way to switch off and pleased to get out for a reasonably decent one.

Bizarre interaction on the train home. Sat down at the closest table to the front, in the front carriage. Standard tactic to minimise walking once arriving at Waverley. Carriage nice and quiet, only one other person as it happened. Fellow passenger started mumbling something and realised they were speaking to me when they got to the bit that went something like "you had the whole carriage and you chose to sit that close to me. Fucking unbelievable". Quite taken aback by that but pleased I didn't succumb to the British apology reflex and instead asked where might be more suitable. Didn't get a response but did get an awkward journey home.

Turnhouse hill race. Proper short little burn up although course manages to pack a lot in for the time/distance. Thought it might be a bit much to ask for a true gutting given chest and head still not the best, which turned out to be fair but still put in a decent effort. Not far behind the pack through the initial climb and contouring section, with the gap starting to grow on the steep climb. Smithy came through like a train here and on a better day I could have used him to bridge the gap to Dash, Riyadh and Fred - but not today. Didn't have the strength to run off the top which is never a good sign, although managed to close up quite significantly on the main descent. Again, could have used Fred as a bridge here given he would clearly run the flat section well. Instead it was a bit of a cruisey trundle home. Good fun, loved the views from the top. The short burnouts don't suit me at the best of times but that's another in a growing list of races that have got away from me this year for one reason or another which is becoming increasingly frustrating.

Another joyful evening with Smithy and Felix on the Seat. Good chat and good lines, just what the body and brain needed. Chest still quite tight but should be fine to rock up at Turnhouse tomorrow.

Easy with Felix and Smithy. Caught some kind of illness backend of last week, possibly a delayed victim of the Jura virus. Hence the lack of Two Mamores or indeed much other running. Feeling improved now but could feel it in the chest on the run.
