9 AM

Running 2:11:00 [3] 18.0 km (7:17 / km)

Trail run on the Bruce from River and Ruin trail home. Must go back to fetch my car once I cool down my poached organs. So hot.
7 PM

Cycle 1:55:00 [3] 30.0 km (3:50 / km)

Sunset ride with Storm and a bit of dark to test out our ligths. Glad I did, they are a bit jumpy.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Epic fail at a run with the dogs at Guelph Lake. The levels were down and the algae was thick and stinky so we turned back after 10 minutes and went into Halton Forest.

Cycle 2:30:00 [3] 42.0 km (3:34 / km)

Mixed ride with Storm with 4 big climbs. Only half way through did I realize my new rear tubeless tire was way down in pressure. I thought I was just tired from the running. We found a rider with a floor pump nearby and the boost made a difference.

Orienteering/Bushwack 2:45:00 [3]

Orienteering practice in Dundas Valley using old Raid maps. We hit about 15 invisible CPs on hill tops and maxed out on rough terrain staying close as possible to the car. Excellent use of time!

Strength 20:00 [3]

Kettlebells etc
7 PM

Running hills 45:00 [3]

5 repeats at Kelso plus steps on a big boulder. Pretty sunset.

Running 2:00:00 [3] 15.0 km (8:00 / km)

Trail run through some of the more rugged trails in Halton with Contour in attempt to simulate bushwhacking, which I have not done much of this summer. It worked - my toes are bashed up real good!

I put Contour on a leash after I thought a guy with a brown fleece was a horse and was still glad I did since a different guy rode by shortly after on a unicycle - who knows what he would have done with that considering he loves to chase regular bikes.

Cycle 2:30:00 [3] 40.0 km (3:45 / km)

Mixed ride with DD11 and Storm, got to hear more about Cowboy Tough as I sucked wind and desperately tried to keep up. We thankfully stopped for a coffee at Flying Monkey 3/4 of the way through.
5 PM

Running 1:05:00 [3]

Trail run with Scout at Rattlensake Point. This was the first time I was here with her alone, but she was a doll and with her new mini-cow bell the hikers had plenty of notice to hear us coming.

Running 45:00 [3]

Easy run with the dogs to Hilton Falls, took a picture of a guy and his dog Gordie, and home again.

Strength 45:00 [3]

I tried a random strength workout for cyclists...kettlebells and dynamic exercises just to mix things up.

Cycle hills 1:00:00 [3]

5 hill repeats at Kelso. That hurt.

I thought trying a different access road would be a good idea compared to the gravel road from hell, but alas it was too steep for me and I had to train on hike a bike. This makes me wonder if any APers ever specifically train and report under hike a bike, considering it often comes up at races.

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Trail run with Storm and The Pups.

Monday Sep 4, 2017 #

7 AM

Cycle 1:20:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:00 / km)

Finally got a tour of the Erin Trails with Patty and Michelle. They are pretty darn awesome.

Sunday Sep 3, 2017 #

Cycle 3:30:00 [3] 62.0 km (3:23 / km)

The Inglewood Indy (one of my favourite mixed terrain rides)....rail trail, roads, gravel, paved, bakery, double track and lots and lots of hills.

Saturday Sep 2, 2017 #

10 AM

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Trail run with Storm and pups.
3 PM

Paddle 1:00:00 [3]

Pack raft around Kelso lake. The lake is gros this time of year, including the banning of swimming due to algae. Time includes 10 min transition to running.
4 PM

Running hills 1:00:00 [3]

5 hill repeats of Kelso ski hill and 20 x 5 step ups using various boulders in the woods at the top.
