Trek 8:30:00 [3] 25.0 km (20:24 / km)

Trek up to Mount Marcy at Lake Placid. Time is elapsed - we took at more than an hour in breaks.

Fun weekend away with Kathie to Lake Placid. With no big race in sight for either of us we took our time up to the Summit at 5300 feet (aprox) amongst gaggles of families.

Indian Falls near the top was really pretty and would make an awesome camping spot but we pushed to the top for our picnic where the Park Ranger who was chilling out at the Summit logged me as the 86th hiker for the day. Apparently it was a slow day for a summer weekend.

We took a longer route down for variety and we were glad to be on quieter trails away from the masses. Kathie found hoards of rare/edible mushrooms and took home a pound of them, now drying out in our motel room.

Many thanks to Bash for warning me about all the boulders and rock washes on the trail. It certainly got tiresome and a tad irritating, and even seemed un-necesary since the rocks appeared to be the result of significant trail erosion and not the prevelent topography.

My brother happened to pop through the area on the next day, and having read the reviews will be taking a nearby trail to Algonquin Peak instead for avoiding all the reasons I didn't 100% love Marcy - so next time for me. There are 46 peaks in this region and I have 45 left to bag.
