| Torrey Pines - skipped broken hill north and walked up most of hill and along Torrey Pines Rd. Time approximate. Cooler today. Left calf got tight (my self-diagnosed compartment syndrome) and foot went numb. Very frustrating. I thought I had this mostly beat. And right before the 1000 day. I don't think the new shoes are the problem, although maybe I'll try going back to the superfeet inserts. I think its probably that I've been increasing my training volume lately and running more on trails instead of pavement. Also, I noticed that my feet were very clunky even when I was just starting out, hitting the pavement quite noisily and when I was running with Trish the other day, it was my legs that were tired, not my aerobic system. For some reason, my body doesn't seem to be adjusting to the increase in training volume, however slight. This is the second time now I've ramped up to a measily 3 hours of running per week and the second time that foot numbness / calf tightness have been a problem. Also, I've only had caffeinated drinks for a couple of days and only slept two hours the night before last (I slept over 12 last night). |
